Abstract
L a primera infancia es de vital importancia para la sociedad. Es evidente que el
futuro de un país depende directamente del cuidado y protección de las personas
en esta importante etapa de la vida. Infortunadamente, en la actualidad, los
esfuerzos realizados por el gobierno y otras entidades para proteger a los niños
en condición de vulnerabilidad en Colombia no son suficientes. La Fundación
S.O.S, en el municipio de Sabaneta, Antioquia, la cual acoge en sus instalaciones
a niños en situación de riesgo, es un claro ejemplo de esta situación. A pesar de
su incansable labor, actualmente no cuenta con la infraestructura necesaria para
cumplir sus objetivos de manera óptima, en cuanto a cobertura poblacional y a
las condiciones ideales requeridas para el cumplimiento de sus funciones.
El proyecto desarrollado comprende una propuesta de una nueva sede para la
fundación según las proyecciones realizadas por las directivas de la institución,
la cual ofrezca vivienda para los niños: espacios habitables que los protejan
y aporten al sano desarrollo de sus vidas. Aprovechando las cualidades del
lote donde la fundación se encuentra actualmente, se proyecta un espacio
arquitectónicamente funcional y especialmente pensado para niños con
problemas psicológicos y sociales, con áreas que principalmente fomenten las
relaciones sociales e interpersonales. Más allá de buscar un lugar donde estos
niños habiten, el objetivo es crear un ambiente con el cual ellos se identifiquen.
La edificación proyectada se divide en cinco módulos, los cuales se adaptan a
la pendiente pronunciada del lote. Tres de estos comprenden las viviendas de
los niños, divididos por edades; el cuarto comprende la zona administrativa
y de servicios; y el quinto la zona de acceso y áreas comunes. Estos módulos
se relacionan entre sí y funcionan como uno solo; las circulaciones que los
unen se plantean como espacios completamente activos los cuales fomentan
las relaciones entre los niños de diferentes edades. Los espacios exteriores
entran y abrazan al proyecto desdibujando el límite entre el exterior y el
interior. Los espacios exteriores están compuestos por parques, zona de
piscina y zona deportiva, los cuales se adaptan a la topografía aprovechando
sus características. Cada espacio exterior se ubica estratégicamente
cercano al módulo de vivienda que requiera de su uso con más frecuencia.
La nueva sede se planea según su proyección de albergar a 196 niños en las
siguientes categorías: 80 niños de 0 a 4 años, 64 niños de 5 a 8 años, y 52
niños de 9 a 12 años. Adicionalmente, se proyecta un espacio para 44 niñeras
residentes, para el cuidado y protección permanente de los niños.
Abstract
Early childhood is of vital importance to society. It is clear that the future of a
country depends directly on the care and protection of people in this important
stage of life. Unfortunately, at present, the efforts made by the government and
other entities to protect vulnerable children in Colombia are not enough. The
S.O.S Foundation, in the municipality of Sabaneta, Antioquia, which has children
at risk in its facilities, is a clear example of this situation. Despite its tireless work,
it currently does not have the necessary infrastructure to meet its objectives
optimally, in terms of population coverage and the ideal conditions required for
the fulfillment of its functions.
The project developed includes a proposal for a new headquarters for the
foundation according to the projections made by the directives of the institution,
which offers housing for children: living spaces that protect them and contribute
to the healthy development of their lives. Taking advantage of the qualities of the
lot where the foundation is currently located, an architecturally functional space
is projected and specially designed for children with psychological and social
problems, with areas that mainly promote social and interpersonal relationships.
Beyond looking for a place where these children live, the goal is to create an
environment with which they identify.
The projected building is divided into five modules, which adapt to the steep
slope of the lot. Three of these include the homes of children, divided by age;
the fourth comprises the administrative and services area; and the fifth the access
zone and common areas. These modules are related to each other and work as
one; the circulations that unite them are posed as fully active spaces which foster
relationships between children of different ages. The exterior spaces enter and
embrace the project, blurring the boundary between the exterior and the interior.
The outdoor spaces are composed of parks, pool area and sports area, which
adapt to the topography taking advantage of its characteristics. Each outdoor
space is strategically located close to the housing module that requires its most
frequent use.
The new headquarters is planned according to its projection to house 196 children

to 8 years old, and 52 children from 9 to 12 years old. Additionally, a space for 44
resident nannies is projected for the care and permanent protection of children.
