Abstract

The Project of the center for human work and development interprets the meaning of said education, understanding the heterogeneity of the users and their informality, which is outside the classification of systems of levels and degrees of formal education. The design is based on two regular modules that tend to disengage themselves, giving the feeling that they are looking to separate (Heterogeneous Concept). These volumes on the first floor are totally permeable, both residents of the neighborhood, floating population and users of the center can make use of services such as library, cafeteria, exhibition hall and administrative offices. On the upper floors are the classrooms and complementary spaces of the building. The design of the halls is designed in a flexible way facilitating the different activities that will be carried out in the center, the halls can be integrated thanks to folding panels resulting in larger and larger capacity classrooms. The aesthetics of the building is based on two components, the first bioclimatic and the second conceptual, both are reflected in lattices of sliding and balconies. Due to the lack of masonry walls in the salons and the strong solar incidence in some facades, the lattices allow the indirect entry of light and not direct sunlight. The dynamic character of the lattices allows the facades to undergo changes over time. In addition, the entire building has 3.3 meters of free mezzanine that allow air flow and cross ventilation. As for the conceptual, an austere materiality, free of finishes is important to understand the heterogeneous character, walls in concrete to the eye that delimit the project and lattices in steel corten, make the users have a sensory experience, increasing the perception that you have the spaces. Obtaining an architecture that can be seen, touched, smelled and even heard. All this based on the postulates of the living architecture of Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. The heterogeneous elements and the homogeneous spaces will be recognized in such a way that the users will feel the cultural and academic potpourri of the building.
