Educación Superior en Santander: limitantes del rendimiento académico de los estudiantes en las pruebas Saber Pro 2018

Abstract
Desde la perspectiva económica, la educación es un determinante fundamental en el crecimiento y desarrollo económico de las naciones, gracias a que aumenta el stock de capital humano. Pero a pesar de la importancia de la educación, el rendimiento académico se encuentra sujeto a las limitaciones que conforman el entorno de cada individuo. El propósito de la presente investigación es identificar las variables socioeconómicas que inciden en el rendimiento académico de las IES de Santander en las pruebas Saber Pro 2018. La metodología utilizada fue la estadística descriptiva y el Análisis de Componentes Principales. Se evidenció que factores como estudiar de forma presencial, el nivel educativo y la posición laboral de los padres, la pertenencia a estratos no subsidiados, el apoyo económico de los padres en la matrícula o una beca y el acceso a la Internet, tienen una influencia positiva en las pruebas presentadas por los estudiantes.
Abstract
From an economic perspective, education is a fundamental determinant in the growth and economic development of nations, thanks to the increase in the stock of human capital. However, despite the importance of education, academic performance is conditioned by the limitations that make up the environment of each one. The purpose of the present investigation is to identify the socioeconomic variables that affect the academic performance of the IES of Santander in the Saber Pro 2018 tests. The methodology used was the descriptive statistics and the Principal Components Analysis. As a result, factors such as the face-to-face study, the educational level and the employment position of the parents, belonging to unsubsidized strata, the financial support of the parents in the tuition or having a scholarship and access to the Internet, have a positive influence on the tests presented by the students.
