Abstract

Las medidas de bioseguridad son un conjunto de normas preventivas reconocidas internacionalmente, orientadas a proteger la salud y la seguridad del personal y su entorno dentro de un ambiente clínico-asistencial, en las que se incluyen normas contra riesgos producidos por agentes biológicos, físicos, químicos y mecánicos. (1) Estas medidas cómo el lavado de manos antes y después de realizar los procedimientos, el uso de barreras cómo guantes, tapabocas, batas; el manejo adecuado de equipos punzocortantes y de desechos sanitarios están orientados a prevenir accidentes laborales que pueden ser graves para la salud de los trabajadores y de los estudiantes de salud que tienen la responsabilidad del cuidado directo del paciente. (2) Las normas de bioseguridad están destinadas a reducir el riesgo de trasmisión de microorganismos de fuentes reconocidas o no reconocidas de infección en servicios de salud, también están orientadas a evitar los accidentes por exposición a sangre y fluidos corporales. Las recomendaciones que se dan en dichas normas estipulan: Las medidas de prevención de accidentes del personal de salud que está expuesto a sangre y otros líquidos biológicos y la conducta a seguir frente a un accidente con exposición a dichos elementos.(1) Se debe tener presente que debido al continuo desarrollo científico-técnico es necesario promover revisiones periódicas de estas normas con el propósito de asegurar el cumplimiento y la actualización de las mismas.

Abstract

Biosecurity measures are a set of preventive internationally recognized standards aimed at protecting the health and safety of staff and their environment within a clinical care environment, where rules against risks caused by biological, physical, chemical included and mechanics. (1) These measures how washing hands before and after performing the procedures, the use of barriers how gloves, masks, gowns; proper handling of sharps and medical waste equipment are designed to prevent accidents that can be serious health workers and health of students who have the responsibility of direct patient care. (2) Biosafety regulations are intended to reduce the risk of transmission of microorganisms of infection in health services, which can cause infectious - contagious and communicable who now constitute a serious public health problem, therefore prevention and control infection is paramount. Biosecurity in dentistry is aimed at preventing harmful impacts against risks inherent in daily clinical practice, ensuring that development or end product of such procedures do not jeopardize the safety of the dentist, your patients, nor on the environment. The recommendations given in the guidelines stipulate: (1) It should be noted that due to ongoing scientific and technical development is necessary to promote periodic reviews of these standards in order to ensure compliance and updating them. In college Santo Tomas, there biosafety standards that must be socialized to students and staff working in clinics to avoid biological accidents. Through this project aims to verify whether these are true.
