Abstract
El presente trabajo realiza un análisis de la importancia y el impacto que tiene el idioma inglés para el turismo de Guatapé y el posible crecimiento en este sector si los comerciantes usaran las alternativas que la política pública les ofrece para mejorar sus conocimientos en el turismo y el idioma inglés. Se usó una metodología mixta en la cual se recopiló información entre los habitantes del Municipio los cuales indicaron las razones de porque no saben ni aprenderían inglés, se identificó las posibles causas de la falta del inglés en este municipio para determinar su impacto en el turismo y también se mencionaron posibles alternativas para aprender o practicar el inglés, la conclusión principal es que el inglés turístico es fundamental para los trabajos ligados directamente con turistas, para que así mismo los extranjeros conozcan más sobre la cultura y las historias las cuales se logran a través del lenguaje, pero en Guatapé hay poco interés de parte de sus comerciantes.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the importance and impact of the English language for tourism in Guatapé and the possible growth in this sector if the merchants would use the alternatives offered by public policy to improve their knowledge of tourism and the English language. A mixed methodology was used in which information was collected among the inhabitants of the municipality who indicated the reasons why they do not know and would not learn English, the possible causes of the lack of English in this municipality were identified to determine its impact on tourism and possible alternatives to learn or practice English were also mentioned, the main conclusion is that tourism English is essential for jobs directly linked to tourists, so that foreigners know more about the culture and stories which are achieved through language, but in Guatapé there is little interest on the part of its merchants.
