Por muchos años se le restó importancia e incluso no se consideró un delito. Actualmente la violencia contra las mujeres sí se reconoce como tal, sin embargo, las mujeres se ven afectadas por las limitaciones prácticas que impiden el ejercicio real del derecho al acceso a la justicia en materia de la violencia que las afecta. La presente investigación analiza los límites en el acceso a la justicia por parte de las mujeres víctimas de maltrato por su pareja en Colombia. Para ello caracteriza la situación, identifica las consecuencias para la sociedad y describe las acciones desarrolladas por la política colombiana frente a la problemática de la violencia contra las mujeres.Violence against women is a serious public health problem and a violation of human rights. Such acts occur mainly in the private and intimate spheres. For many years, these acts were downplayed and was not even considered a crime. Violence against women is now recognized as a crime; however, women are affected by the practical limitations that impede the effective exercise of the right to access to justice in relation to the violence that affects them. This research analyzes the limits on access to justice by women victims of abuse by their partner in Colombia.
