This paper shows how nevertheless most of the XIXth century remained in the colonial tradition both in content and shape.El presente artículo pretende mostrar, desde la práctica de la pintura,  cómo la primera mitad del siglo XIX se comporta como una articulación entre la cultura colonial del siglo XVIII y el tránsito hacia las nuevas propuestas academicistas y costumbristas que se pusieron de moda a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.
