Su formación académica se centra en lo concerniente a la Propiedad Intelectual y en temas sobre competencia desleal. Este profesional ostenta un requisito “sine qua non” basado en la colegiatura obligatoria, es decir, que aquel profesional deberá realizar la colegiatura para ejercer como API; por consecuente, la investigación se centró en exponer los diferentes requisitos exigidos para formarse como un API; y a su vez en exhibir la importancia de la creación del colegio de Agentes de Propiedad Intelectual en Colombia. Por lo anterior, se tuvieron en cuenta los diferentes estatutos relacionados con los Agentes de Propiedad Industrial alrededor de las comunidades Latinoamericana y Europea. En este sentido, se lograron determinar los diferentes atributos, facultades, tipos de obligaciones y finalmente el régimen contractual del (API).The purpose of this paper is to determine the role played by the Intellectual Property Agent in Colombia. The (IPA), is a professional in charge of the administration, processing, advice and defense of Industrial Property rights. His academic training is focused on Industrial Property and unfair competition issues. This professional has a ''sine qua non'' requirement based on compulsory registration, namely, that this professional must be registered in order to practice as an IPA; consequently, the research was focused on exposing the different requirements demanded to become an IPA and at the same time to show the importance of the creation of the Association of Intellectual Property Agents in Colombia. Therefore, the different statutes related to Industrial Property Agents around the Latin American and European communities were taken into account.
