Este barrio, evolucionado de un asentamiento a una zona residencial, carece de un espacio comunal adecuado que afecta negativamente la cohesión social y el desarrollo integral de sus habitantes. El objetivo es diseñar y construir un salón comunal que no solo satisfaga las necesidades de actividades sociales y culturales, sino que también promueva la integración comunitaria. La metodología empleada se basa en la Investigación-Acción Participativa, facilitando la interacción continua con la comunidad para identificar sus necesidades y prioridades. Se realizó un análisis exhaustivo del contexto local y se aplicaron técnicas cualitativas para recolectar datos, como entrevistas y grupos focales. Los resultados de la encuesta revelaron una demanda unánime por un salón comunal con baños, cocina, áreas de juego para niños y espacios para actividades deportivas. El aporte principal radica en proporcionar un espacio físico versátil y funconal que fortalezca el tejido social y mejore la calidad de vida de los residentes. En consecuencia, el diseño del salón comunal debe seguir principios de sostenibilidad y adaptabilidad, contribuyendo significativamente al desarrollo comunitario y al bienestar general en el Barrio San Jorge.In the context of commitment to community development and social well-being, this project focuses on addressing the infrastructural deficiencies of Barrio San Jorge in Duitama. Evolved from a settlement to a residential area, this neighborhood lacks a suitable communal space, negatively affecting social cohesion and the comprehensive development of its residents. The objective is to design and construct a communal hall that not only meets the needs for social and cultural activities but also promotes community integration. The methodology is based on Participatory Action Research, facilitating continuous interaction with the community to identify their needs and priorities. A comprehensive analysis of the local context was conducted, employing qualitative techniques such as interviews and focus groups. Survey results revealed unanimous demand for a communal hall with bathrooms, a kitchen, areas for children's play, and spaces for sports activities. The main contribution lies in providing a versatile and functional physical space that strengthens social fabric and enhances residents' quality of life.
