The research arises from the recognition of conventional housing practices that overlook the climatic and ecological dynamics of the territory, resulting in inefficient resource use and reduced indoor environmental quality. Through a comprehensive understanding of the site, key variables such as solar radiation, relative humidity, rainfall patterns, and natural ventilation are analyzed to inform architectural decisions. The methodological approach integrates environmental analysis with design strategies based on bioclimatic principles, emphasizing the relationship between built space, landscape, and user. As a result, the project proposes a dwelling that enhances the use of passive resources, incorporates low-impact solutions, and establishes a strong connection with the natural environment. Beyond a specific response, the proposal aims to serve as a replicable model for housing design in similar contexts, contributing to the development of more efficient, adaptive, and environmentally responsible habitats.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Metamorfosis: de la vivienda proyectada a la vivienda vivida(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Cubides Pabón, José Daniel; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefanía; Herreño Jiménez, Cristhian David; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876Social housing in Colombia has traditionally been evaluated from the design and delivery stages, relegating the analysis of its performance once occupied to a secondary role. This lack of post-occupancy studies highlights the need for research that examines the actual performance of these interventions over time. Considering the above, this project proposes a post-occupancy study with a mixed-methods approach. This approach aims to categorize the physical transformations the units have undergone and to combine qualitative information on users' perceptions of their residential satisfaction five years after delivery. To this end, the methodology combines the analysis of physical, construction, and comfort variables in 30 units with the collection of qualitative information on user perceptions through surveys administered to 90 residents of the housing development. The main finding is that the dwellings have undergone multiple transformations by the residents, reflecting both adaptations to needs not considered in the original design and limitations in the initial living conditions.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Evolución De los Tipos De Edificación En El Centro Fundacional Del Municipio De Restrepo(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-16) Rueda Velasquez, Ana Sofia; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefanía; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876The founding center of Restrepo (Meta) contains traditional houses that played a significant role in the foundation and consolidation process of the municipality since 1915. These buildings constitute a material record of the municipality’s history, preserving construction techniques, architectural languages, and the memories of the inhabitants of Restrepo. After more than a century since the construction of these houses, the municipality has promoted their inclusion in the Indicative List of Candidates for Cultural Heritage Assets (LIC-BIC) as future heritage properties of the Meta department. However, at the same time, these buildings are undergoing a transformation process due to commercial pressures, the reconfiguration of household composition, and changes in the functions of the founding center. All of this has triggered a reconfiguration of uses and modifications in their formal structure. This situation has raised concerns regarding the documentation of Restrepo’s built residential heritage and the municipality’s heritage future. Considering the above, this research analyzes the evolution of these building typologies through the study of six houses. This qualitative research is structured into three stages. The first stage focuses on documenting the alterations of the buildings through architectural recording and property characterization, using field visits, interviews, and architectural survey sheets complemented by plans and 3D models. The second stage describes the changes from the perspective of inhabitants and residents of the area through semi-structured interviews and focus group workshops. The third stage defines the representative types of housing transformations by cross-referencing historical and physical information. On the one hand, the study highlights local architectural expressions that have been overlooked in planning instruments; on the other hand, it comparatively documents six case studies and produces concrete inputs that may be incorporated into future updates of the PBOT in order to guide technical decisions that respect the spatial logic and cultural value of each property.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Jagüey: memoria que teje encuentro(Universidad Santo Tomás, 0012-06-26) Castillo Jiménez, Jefferson; Ortiz Bernal, Duban Felipe; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefania; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876Tipo de ítem: Ítem , El ensamble como lógica proyectual para la inclusión-metodología compositiva para un complejo de rehabilitación integral.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-11) Valderrama Pulido, Juan Sebastian; González Cárdenas, Alejandro; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefania; Gil Forero, Nicolas; Universidad Santo Tomas; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001990774; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=es&user=H_PTUCoAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7481-5777This undergraduate thesis project aims to develop an architectural design methodology based on composition by parts, applied at different scales of the design process. This approach transcends the architectural object itself, encompassing the project's comprehensive conception, from defining the program to understanding the urban, landscape, and contextual environment. It also incorporates the iteration of organizational logics that allow for the structuring of a comprehensive rehabilitation complex for people with disabilities. All of this is grounded in theoretical frameworks that enable the systematization and explanation, from a formal perspective, of how the project is configured. Within this framework, composition by parts is conceived as an organized and well-founded process that guides decision-making in architectural design. The methodology is structured in six modules: territorial and social context, territorial analysis, program composition, open systems, composition by parts, and landscape composition. As a result, a system of interrelated elements is constructed that can be analyzed, compared, and reinterpreted in order to experiment with, justify, and lend coherence to both the form and function of the project. As a case study, a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Complex focused on Art and Sports is being developed in the municipality of Acacías, Meta. This project addresses the need for specialized facilities for rehabilitation and artistic training, the absence of which limits opportunities for inclusion and development for people with disabilities in the region.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Faena: Arquitectura y Memoria del Llano Casanareño(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Pérez Hidalgo, Valentina; Agudelo Merizalde, Dana Geraldine; Quiñines Bustos, Jefferson Esteban; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000066639; https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=es&user=bSCAx4MAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1017-7809Tipo de ítem: Ítem , El silencio habitado en el entorno escolar(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Parra Losada, Erika; Rodriguez Reyes, Natalia Sthefany; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefanía; Duque Cepedes, Jeison Estiven; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002085496; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=fspGVzAAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876Schools are, par excellence, the space for inclusion and the development of skills and knowledge for the entire student population. In Colombia, regulations such as NSR10, NTC 4595, and NTC 6047 stipulate that all institutions must provide physical spaces to guarantee proper learning in the school environment for children with hearing impairments. The problem lies in the fact that institutions built prior to these regulations do not have physical or sensory spaces adapted to these requirements, which limits the participation and comprehensive development of students with hearing impairments. Considering the above, this research project proposes architectural design guidelines to adapt public and private educational infrastructure. The project employed a qualitative and participatory methodology, based on Korte's YoungDeafDesign method (2017). The project was developed in four stages. The first step involves a review of regulations and case studies of educational institutions designed for students with hearing impairments. The second step involves identifying the spatial needs of students through play-based workshops, sensory walks, and co-design activities. The third step involves assessing the condition of the educational facility to establish guidelines for adapting buildings based on universal accessibility, multisensory design, and child ergonomics. The results revealed deficiencies in all three areas identified: spaces for care, spaces for learning, and spaces for play. Finally, it was demonstrated that the direct participation of students with disabilities strengthens the relevance, autonomy, and sustainability of inclusive architectural adaptations in these areas.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , De enclave productivo a nodo patrimonial.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Castillo Torres, Rafael; Tovar Guevara, Sebastian; Figueredo Guerrón, Estefania; Cristancho Salamanca, Angela del Pilar; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001729208; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=c2DVeZIAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6110-4247The "Minas de Sal de Upín" salt complex played a central role in the economic and social growth of the municipality of Restrepo, Meta, through the mining exploitation of rock salt and brine, which enabled local development from 1913 to 1992. Subsequently, due to ground failures, geological faults, changes in administration, and difficulties in the competitiveness of salt extraction processes, the mine closed its doors. Since then, the facilities have remained abandoned, triggering a process of deterioration. This decay not only represents the loss of an important cultural symbol, but also the loss of the potential this space holds for the built heritage of Restrepo. In light of the above, this research project proposes a refunctionalization plan for the former salt mine, supported by three stages. The first consisted of the analysis of similar cases of industrial heritage refunctionalization, in order to extract best practices in heritage management. The second involved the survey, diagnosis, and digitalization of the buildings within the salt complex, assessing their material, structural, and constructive condition, reconstructing the history of the complex, and describing its heritage value. The third stage consisted of generating a community consultation scenario with residents of Restrepo and tourists, based on an exhibition of constructed models, followed by the application of surveys aimed at detecting recognition of the complex and possible imaginaries for new vocations for the mine. As a result of these three stages, the Management Plan for the Refunctionalization of the Salinas de Upín is proposed, establishing guidelines for the recovery of the site within a refunctionalization framework, so that the complex becomes sustainable and capable of generating new social, cultural, and economic activities around the industrial heritage of Upín.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Resguarda la raíz, arquitectura para las comunidades indígenas(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-12) Pinilla Marín, Bella Valentina; Santana Barrera, Jhair Sebastián; Quiñones Bustos, Jefferson Esteban; Paez Vargas, Juan Felipe; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000066639; https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=es&user=0McseKwAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1017-7809The municipality of Arauca, known for its cultural diversity and the strong presence of indigenous communities such as the Sikuani, Hitnü, and U'wa, faces an important challenge: how to guarantee housing redesign processes that respect their traditional ways of life. For decades, land planning policies and the armed conflict have created territories designed under homogeneous standards, disconnected from the indigenous worldview. This has led to informal settlements, loss of ancestral practices, disruption of community life, and serious conditions of poverty and vulnerability. This research, developed in the Matecandela indigenous reservation, proposes an opportunity to rethink habitat from an integral perspective, understanding living as a deep relationship between territory, culture, and clan-based social organization. Through a mixed methodological approach that included multicomponent territorial analysis and fieldwork with the community, the project seeks to integrate indigenous ways of life into a housing model that recognizes their territory through their cultural and social identity, helping to reduce processes of deterritorialization and acculturation.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Habitar la tierra, leer el clima y construir desde la tradición(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-09) Sanchez, Andres; Figueredo Guerron, Estefania; Duque Cespedes, Jeison Estiven; Páez Vargas, Juan Felipe; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002085496; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.es/citations?user=fspGVzAAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876Rural peasant housing in the municipality of Cubarral, Meta, is exposed to high temperatures, elevated relative humidity, and intense solar radiation, conditions that directly affect thermal comfort and habitability. However, housing improvement processes are often based on standardized solutions that fail to adequately respond to the environmental and cultural characteristics of the territory, limiting the incorporation of traditional construction knowledge and bioclimatic strategies. The aim of this research was to design thermal improvement strategies for rural peasant housing through the application of vernacular techniques and bioclimatic principles. The study adopted a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope and a documentary-projective nature. Rural dwellings located in the villages of Aguas Claras and San Miguel were analyzed, together with forty-six manuals on construction, bioclimatic design, and natural building techniques, complemented by the evaluation of sixty bioclimatic strategies applicable to warm-humid tropical climates.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Del no lugar al espacio colectivo: transformación urbana y reconfiguración estrategica de la galeria del siete de agosto(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-01) Mina Quiñones, Leonor Alejandra; Quiñones Bustos, Jefferson Esteban; Gil Forero, Nicolas; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000066639; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001990774; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=0McseKwAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=es&user=H_PTUCoAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1017-7809; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7481-5777This undergraduate thesis addresses the issues affecting the 7 de Agosto Market Gallery in Villavicencio, characterized by urban disconnection, underutilization of its infrastructure, and an inadequate organization of uses, impacting its role as a commercial facility and collective public space. In response, the research proposes an urban and architectural reconfiguration strategy based on the reorganization of uses, the adaptive reuse of the existing structure, and the activation of public space, with the aim of integrating the gallery into the urban dynamics and strengthening its relationship with the surrounding context. It is concluded that these strategies help recover the functionality of the facility and contribute to the urban, social, and economic revitalization of the sector.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Residencia estudiantil en la Comuna 3 de Bucaramanga, Santander(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-19) Mejia Bolivar, Angelica Maria; Cadena Jaimes, Maria Alejandra; Universidad Santo TomasSan Francisco neighborhood in Bucaramanga has become a key area due to its proximity to universities such as UNAB and its strong urban connectivity, attracting many out-of-town students. However, the current housing supply is not designed to meet their needs, as these are spaces originally intended for families and inadequately adapted. In response to this situation, the project proposes the design of a student residence based on the co-living model, integrating efficient housing units with shared spaces aimed at fostering coexistence, interaction, and a sense of community. The proposal also seeks proper integration with the surrounding neighborhood. Its development followed a methodology from general to specific, including the analysis of the urban, regulatory, and environmental context, the characterization of the student user, and the application of co-living theoretical foundations, together with Germán Samper’s concept of the urban enclosure as the basis for the architectural designTipo de ítem: Ítem , Procesos De Conformacion Del Barrio La Nohora Desde Los Relatos De Sus Espacios Colectivos.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-20) Leon Ganem, Yennifer; Marquez Abella, Lina Marcela; Figueredo Guerron, Estefania; Quiñonez, Jefferson Esteban; Universidad Santo Tomas; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001806025; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000066639; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=uEkPPZkAAAAJ&hl; https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=es&user=0McseKwAAAAJ; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0279-2876; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1017-7809Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Red de paz y desarrollo. In this sense, this thesis highlights these cultures as a fundamental part of the Colombian Orinoquia region. Methodologically, this work employs a process of inventory, analysis, and diagnosis, identifying that the lack of infrastructure, the difficulty in accessing basic services, informal growth, and, in general, territorial planning disconnected from the reality of the municipality, have resulted in a low quality of life for its inhabitants. Therefore, this thesis proposes an architectural project that connects the Llanero and Indigenous cultures through the integration of productive, sporting, and cultural activities, strengthening territorial identity and fostering contextualized territorial development.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Caminos de agua y raíces de tierra. The project falls under the Research Line: Architectural Theory and Design and the Emphasis Line: Architecture and Structure, where the study of the relationships between the structural system and the built form becomes a field of conceptual and design exploration. In this context, the case studies of Exchange House (SOM, 1990) and Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (SOM, 1963) are analyzed, which are exemplary works where the structure plays a leading role in defining space, symbolic expression, and functional organization.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Centro de Cuidado Paliativo Oncologico "Centro Deisy"(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-22) Naranjo Camargo, Nicolas; Castro Bohorquez, Carlos Alfredo; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001379529; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=CvbkEf4AAAAJ&hl=esThis research addresses the loss of the symbolic, sensory, and human dimension within contemporary architecture, proposing design strategies capable of restoring the meaning of inhabiting in contexts of vulnerability. Based on the theoretical approaches of Gottfried Semper, Lucas Arnau Amo, and Gianfranco Fanelli, together with the analysis of the work of Luis Barragán —particularly the Casa Estudio and Casa Gilardi—, three design tools are developed: the platform as a spatial modifier, light as ritual, and cladding and symbolic boundaries. These strategies converge in the concept of the individualization of the domestic ritual, understood as a design approach that integrates materiality, light, and technique in order to restore architecture’s human, emotional, and poetic character. From this conceptual exploration, the research evolves toward the development of a palliative care center, understanding architecture as a medium capable of emotionally supporting the final stages of life. The project seeks to respond to the spatial hostility present in many contemporary care environments by proposing spaces that dignify the experience of inhabiting during moments of physical and emotional fragility. In this way, the individualization of the domestic ritual becomes a fundamental design tool for creating atmospheres of protection, contemplation, and accompaniment, where users may feel recognized, sheltered, and connected to their surroundings until the final moment of life.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Escuela de oficios tradicionales “Centro histórico de Tunja" Proyectos arquitectónicos que recuperen los valores tradicionales de la arquitectura(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-10) Torres Avila, Diego Alejandro; Osorio Salazar, Leonardo Enrique; Niño Ramírez, Santiago Andrés; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000567698; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=w4oWl_gAAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4896-5437The work is developed within a context in which many projects have become detached from the traditional values of architecture. The identified problem is: “Architectural projects that fail to recover the traditional values of architecture,” caused by the disconnection between ways of life, typology, and local crafts, which results in the loss of cultural identity and the emergence of spatial structures alien to the territory. The objective is to formulate design strategies that allow the recovery of these values by integrating typology, ways of life, and construction techniques. The methodology includes the development of the problem tree and objectives tree, the selection of relevant case studies, and their analysis through redrawings, guided by the contributions of Martí Arís, Semper, and Arnau Amo. The main contribution is the formulation of three design tools: typology as the origin of the event, the determination of the parts that construct it, and craft as the means to shape it. These tools are later consolidated into a synthesis model and developed into an architectural project located on the site known as the “Hoyo de la Papa,” adjacent to Plaza Real in the historic center of Tunja.Subsequently, through the urban, historical, and regulatory analysis of the sector, problems related to the loss of typological continuity, the weakening of ways of life, and the growing separation between architecture and craftsmanship within the historic center are identified. Based on these conditions, a School of Traditional Crafts is established as the most appropriate architectural response to the identified problem.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Habitar en Expansión, Vivienda de Interes Social (VIS) Adaptable, Flexible y Sostenible(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-11) Arias Torres, Yeraldin; Quiñones Bustos, Jefferson Esteban; Salazar Pinilla, Andres Orlando; Clavijo Merchan, Jennyfer; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000066639; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001471787; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000120916; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=0McseKwAAAAJ&hl=es; https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=es&user=0McseKwAAAAJ; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=dMBL0o4AAAAJ&hl=es; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1017-7809; https://orcid.org/0009-0009-3818-7871; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2610-1526Unlike references such as the La Fragua neighborhood in Bogotá, developed by Germán Samper, where the pedestrian and the real needs of the user are prioritized; Social housing in Villavicencio, for the most part, is rigid and does not respond to changes over time.
