As a general objective, the competitive situation of the 4 most important public ports in Colombia was analyzed, compared to the 7 main ports of South America, in the period between 2010 and 2013. Specifically, the 7 ports of South America and Colombia were identified, in order to be able to determine aspects related to infrastructure (Total area for operations of ports, canals and access roads, number of docks and areas of operation for special loads, land location and port equipment), TEUS movement, types of ships and shipping lines; in order to propose improvement strategies for Colombian ports according to their characteristics of competitiveness in South America.

This report is presented as a result of the activities carried out during business practice at the company Petróleos del Milenio SAS (Petromil), during the performance of the position assigned as Administrative Assistant for Purchasing, Storage and Distribution of Hydrocarbons. The functions of the position held are developed in accordance with the guidelines and organizational policies and are intended to allow the practitioner to develop personal and professional skills in the administrative and operational functions that are generated in the activity of purchasing storage and distribution in the Petromil SAS hydrocarbons plant located in the Sogamoso River. Once the Functions of the assigned position and the Legal Provisions are known, which as a requirement must be fulfilled in the hydrocarbon operations and the stage of induction to the charge and assigned functions is completed; A physical examination of the plant was made to show and know the processes and procedures that are managed as safety protocols and checklists to validate the physical safety conditions of the vehicles and drivers that transport and distribute the hydrocarbons. The personal safety protocols, the meeting point and other Industrial and environmental safety standards were known. ¨ After the induction of occupational, industrial and environmental safety, I moved to the administrative building to continue with the Induction of the duties assigned by the Company Management. The diversity of activities carried out in the plant was conducive to acquiring more knowledge, the receipt of the pipeline, the arrival of strategic product, carrying out a logistics with the turn of the tank cars at the entrance of the plant and the landfill. The processes that were part of the induction, allowed to know first-hand, the operative processes to define administrative guidelines in purchases, reception, storage of hydrocarbon products and the pertinent to the documentary logistics with the sending of correspondence, invoices while allowing the reevaluation of suppliers, in order to develop activities with greater ease of handling and control of operations identifying problems and giving a prompt and efficient solution. The purpose of this report is to put in evidence the business practice process. The experience acquired in the development of the functions assigned in the position "International Purchasing Leader" at the company Salsamentaría Santander S.A, with its main address in Bucaramanga city. In the development of business practices, you can get a knowledge about the production processes. That allows to have clarity of the traceability of a particular product, as well as the marketing structure. Knowing the lines in the value chain that is required for a regional and national market. All the activities carried out within the functions of the position are a continuous learning process, which allows interdisciplinary development between the theoretical knowledge acquired at the University during academic and strengthening of the personal and professional skills, to hold positions with greater responsibility and control. All of these to perform a really good job in any company in the future. At the beginning of the business practice it seems somewhat uncertain, but when you are developing each the functions according to your position. You'll getting a clear vision of the business, and the way of how it should innovate each of the processes to have a successful value chain, fulfilling of the economic commitments of the markets in a real time. The main reason for this project grade was to demonstrate how through the realization of a business practice and an active participation in a workplace we can acquire an empirical knowledge that allows us to create strengths and skills as a professional in international Business. All this based on my experience and knowledge acquired during these six months of practice in the company Campollo in the charge of Assistant of Logistics and purchasing, in the plants of feed, where I was assigned with tasks, like providing all the raw material of the plants, product storage in ports, providers contact, review of the invoices and documents concerning to imports made by the company, reviewing of the raw material in the ports, and others. Tasks that led me to the conclusion that if you want to have a full formation like a professional is necessary for you, to have contact with the working world before you to graduate, according to this, you will have a much broader vision of your career and working life that is waiting for you, preparing yourself much better when you decide to go find a job or realize any type of activity related to your career, which in this case is international business.

The purpose of this report is to present in a concise and clear manner the activities performed within the functions assigned to the position during the period of Business Practice, the processes and procedures develop an approach to customs operations of Import and Export, as a performance force of the Foreign Trade area, of the Comercializadora Kidex SAS as a visionary company and executor of results, directing all efforts in the improvement of commercialization of children's footwear in the domestic market. With enough experience in production and marketing, they are projected to participate in the external markets of the United States and Mexico in the last twelve years. The student's work in practice is mainly focused on the position of business assistant, a very wide opportunity to gain experience in business management, administrative management decision making. The assigned functions allow to strengthen the knowledge acquired in the academy during the career and strengthen professional competencies for the best work and professional performance. Some of them deserve comment not to mention the most relevant activities in the functions of the position such as: Taking and capturing orders in the company's internal programs, preparing documentation for the Import and Export of footwear: Packing lists, packaging labels, Billing , Certificates of Origin, Generation of Labels and Catalogs, Updating and monitoring of shipments to be developed, as well as national and international calls made, in order to track customers and their respective inventories. Another important activity to highlight was the adequacy of a physical inventory within the office that had around one thousand (1500) pairs of shoes, also the review of physical inventories from local factories in their own facilities, in order to consolidate information true of footwear that is not in motion.

In order to satisfy all the needs and requirements that arise in the automotive market, INDUSTRIAS PARTMO produces filters for oil, fuel (gasoline, acpm, and gas), cooling systems, air and other fluids, for road equipment (automobiles , taxis, camper vans, vans, minibuses, vans, trucks, buses, double trucks and tractor-trucks) and outside of it (agricultural, industrial, mining and maritime equipment). The business practice allows the student to develop activities of customs and business management, the assigned functions, is directly related to the profession in international business. For the student, the contributions of the company are very supportive, as a complement the company benefits from the contribution of the practitioner because at present they do not have a person in charge of the foreign trade area. The functions performed by the intern were assigned from two areas of the company (marketing and purchasing), in order to make the processes more flexible and control for productive results. Upon arriving at PARTMO, the international business practitioner is delegated functions related to foreign trade and all that they are responsible for. This opportunity provides an experience that helps to demonstrate maturity, professionalism and responsibility to perform assigned functions, applying in this same way the knowledge acquired during the learning obtained at the university. This is how this experience manages to focus the practitioner within the workplace, making their functions clear and learning to apply traceability in procedures
