Irrigating solutions are an essential component in endodontic therapy for complete disinfection of the root canal. Objective: To evaluate the solubility of human pulp tissue using Azadirachta Indica (Neem) extract compared to a 5.25% solution of sodium hypochlorite in pulps of healthy third molars and premolars extracted by orthodontic indication. Method: 24 extracted human third molars and premolars were selected along with three additional teeth were added for the pilot study. Subsequently, the instrumentation was carried out and they were divided into three groups, each consisting of 8 third molars and premolars. Each group was treated with a different solution: saline solution, 5.25% sodium hypochlorite and Neem extract (Azadirachta Indica). A longitudinal cut of the pulp tissue was then carried out and the three substances in the study were immersed. An initial weighing (in milligrams) was carried out, followed by measuremen every fifteen and thirty minutes to assess the decrease in the weight of the pulp tissue because of the dissolution. The data obtained were subjected to a descriptive statistical variance analysis with a level of significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The Azadirachta Indica extract dissolved pulp tissue, although sodium hypochlorite achieved dissolution of the pulp tissue in a shorter time. Conclusions: Azadirachta Indica extract has been shown to have the ability to dissolve pulp tissue when used as irrigating agent, suggesting its potential as an alternative irrigating agent.spa
