| dc.description | Being the year of the consecrated life proclaimed by Pope Francis and the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the decree on religious life by the Second Vatican Council, this article asks to what extent Mary can be a model for the consecrated and to what extent she can’t. Celibacy is essential for religious life. Mary was not celibate; but she can be a model and a teacher in something so essential to all consecrated life: listening to the Word of God received by faith. And also she can be a model and teacher of the motherhood-fatherhoodfraternity the Christs exalts; as well as of the new type of family Jesus came to found.
