This article attempts to briefly present a particular phenomenon of the cultural temperament of today's globalized societies, which goes back to one of the founding constitutive notes of modernity: the fear of the irrational as a form of affirmation of abstract-mathematical rationality. However, we will show that irrationality only exists as an “irrational” fear of “unreason”. In addition, we will present a distinction in the most original symbolic field of the unconscious: the cultural differentiated from the social. Based on the ontology of Rodolfo Kusch, we methodologically carry out a genealogy with some notes of hermeneutic phenomenology.
