| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Biomimetics in oral rehabilitation is a restorative approach aimed at preserving natural tooth structure through the use of biocompatible materials, adhesive protocols, and minimally invasive procedures. Objective: To determine the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of oral rehabilitation specialists regarding biomimetics and its application in clinical practice in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. Methodology: A descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted with oral rehabilitation specialists in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. Data collection was carried out using a structured and validated survey with sociodemographic questions and sections designed to assess knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to biomimetics. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The study was approved by the research committee. Results: Sixty-nine oral rehabilitation specialists participated, predominantly female (58.0%) and aged between 41 and 60 years (58.0%). A high level of knowledge about biomimetics was evident in 63.8% of the participants, while 69.6% presented favorable attitudes toward its implementation. Regarding clinical practices, intermittent application of biomimetic principles predominated, as 53.6% reported using them only occasionally in their treatments. Furthermore, a statistically significant association was found between years of experience and attitudes toward biomimetics (p=0.01). Conclusions: The oral rehabilitation specialists evaluated demonstrate a favorable conceptual understanding and a positive attitude toward biomimetics; however, their clinical application remains variable and intermittent. This suggests a gap between theoretical knowledge and its systematic incorporation into practice, making it necessary to strengthen academic updates, clinical training, and the implementation of evidence-based protocols that promote a more consistent integration of this approach into oral rehabilitation. | |
