El presente artículo es una reflexión destinada a hacer explícito el vínculo esencial entre mística y evangelización, a través del análisis fenomenológico-hermenéutico de los escritos de san Juan de la Cruz relativos a la predicación, la dirección espiritual y el testimonio de vida cristiana, de especial interés para los especialistas en teología espiritual y misionología. El objetivo es presentar al lector algunas claves para la evangelización del mundo moderno y posmoderno, que se desprenden de las enseñanzas del poeta místico. La tesis por demostrar es que, en su condición de maestro espiritual, no hay nadie mejor que el místico para orientar el proyecto evangelizador. La importancia de estas páginas radica en que, sin una adecuada fundamentación espiritual, la evangelización no puede más que fracasar, aún cuando, desde la perspectiva mundana, parezca que ha triunfado.
This article is a reflection aimed at making explicit the essential link between mysticism and evangelization, through the phenomenological-hermeneutical analysis of the writings of Saint John of the Cross related to preaching, spiritual direction and the testimony of Christian life, of special interest for specialists in spiritual theology and missiology. The objective is to present to the reader some keys for the evangelization of the modern and postmodern world, which emerge from the teachings of the mythical poet. The thesis to be demonstrated is that, in his capacity as spiritual teacher, there is no one better than the mystic to guide the evangelizing project. The importance of these pages lies in the fact that, without an adequate spiritual foundation, the mission can only fail, even when, from a worldly perspective, it appears to have triumphed.
