Conceptualizing what law is, has been a hot topic since the dawn of humanity where a set of rules was available to regulate the behavior of human beings in society. For this work, a large number of jus philosophers have wielded a set of legal theories, within which we can group natural juridical theories, positivists and legal realism. For the purposes of the present investigation, only a particular interest will be given to Iusnaturalism, also known as the school of natural law, in which, in a general way, it proclaims the attribution of a set of powers and prerogatives inherent to people, by their simple condition of Human Beings, alien to any conventional aspect. Specifically, we are going to analyze the immersion of natural law postulates within the territory that is now known as Colombia, however, in a historical period prior to its formation as a Unitary, democratic and participatory Republic, as our current constitutional text proclaims in its first article and, even prior to the establishment of the Viceroyalty of the new Granada.
