The decree Unitatis Redintegratio on ecumenism, as interpreted by Cardinals Yves Congar and Walter Kasper, serves as a source of inspiration aimed at seeking the unity of the Church. The major challenges faced by the churches are rooted in the understanding of unity, dialogue, openness, and participation in terms of equality and fraternity. Priests, pastors, leaders, laypeople, and all those responsible for any form of leadership must keep in mind that the commitment to building a path forward necessarily involves letting go of preconceived notions and adopting an attitude of listening to others in their truth.
