| spa |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The failure of primary endodontic treatment ranges from 14 to 16% and requires a new root canal treatment intervention. The complete elimination of sealing materials is very important because it has to reassurance the disinfection and the canal shaping. Objective: Analyze the presence and composition of Bio Root RCS ™ cement residues, in 1-week, 6-month and 1-year increments (total setting time) simulated thermocycling in the coronal, middle and apical thirds by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Spectrum Dispersed Energy, measured by Auto CAD®. Methodology: A quasi-experimental in vitro study was conducted on 30 root canals. They were divided into 3 groups: 1 week, 6 months and 1 year, the canals were filled and subjected to thermocycling, then the deobturation and cross sections (coronal, middle and apical) were carried out in total 90 samples analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results: In the analysis, there were no statistically significant differences in the presence of residues of three radicular thirds, the apical third presented a higher percentage of waste compared to coronal and middle third. Calcium was the element most found in all samples. The presence of the sealing material Silicon (Si) and Zinc (Zn) was observed. The cut that contains the highest silicon residues is the coronal, followed by the middle and the apical cut. In addition, it was determined that there were no significant differences between the thirds analyzed over time; however there is a decrease in waste at 6 months in three thirds compared to results at 1 week and 1 year. Conclusion: It was not possible to remove all the sealing material. Calcium was the most found element in all samples. | spa |
