The article analyzes the relationship between the identity and mission of the Benedictine Oblate of the Monastery of Santa María de la Asunción in Envigado. It was developed within a hermeneutical paradigm and a qualitative approach, employing the Latin American method (see, judge, and act) and two complementary strategies: a focus group and a community Lectio Divina. The study made it possible to interpret the spiritual experience of the Oblates and candidates in the light of Exodus 20 and Chapter IV of the Rule of Saint Benedict, identifying meanings related to faith, oblation, and community commitment. The findings reveal a strong awareness of baptismal faith, yet also a weak internalization of the Benedictine charism, especially in its missionary dimension beyond the monastery. Based on these results, the article proposes theological and pastoral perspectives aimed at integrating identity and mission into the formation of the Oblate and the renewal of their statutes. The study contributes to making visible a little-explored spirituality and to recognizing in the Benedictine Oblate a lay vocation that is incarnate and transformative, fully inserted in the mission of the Church in today’s world.
