This reflective article presents several ideas concerning a number of issues that I consider relevant with regard to the duty of the Colombian State to engage in memory work and to allow the creation of alternative narratives in cases of violence and human rights violations. First, it examines how to address the issue of State responsibility in relation to such cases. Second, it seeks to define the State as an institutional labyrinth that is only beginning to be explored and investigated, with all the challenges and limitations this entails. Finally, it discusses the various roles the State plays as an interlocutor with society, particularly with victims.
Este artículo de reflexión presenta unas cuantas ideas en torno a varios problemas que considero pertinentes con respecto al deber que tiene el Estado colombiano de hacer memoria y de permitir la creación de otros relatos en los casos de violencia y de violaciones de Derechos Humanos. En primer lugar, cómo abordar el tema de la responsabilidad del Estado frente a esos casos. En segundo lugar, trata de definir al Estado como un laberinto institucional que apenas se está explorando para ser indagado, con todos los retos y limitaciones que pueden existir. Finalmente, en tercer lugar, se expone cómo el Estado juega diversos roles como interlocutor frente a la sociedad, especialmente frente a las víctimas.
