| dc.description | Esta investigación cualitativa de estudio de casos múltiples explora las percepciones y prácticas pedagógicas de docentes de primaria sobre el translanguaging como perspectiva pedagógica para promover el aprendizaje de la lengua y cultura local en colegios bilingües o con énfasis en inglés en Bogotá y Tunja, Colombia. Utilizando una muestra intencional de cuatro docentes, el estudio empleó entrevistas semiestructuradas, observaciones no participantes y una encuesta preliminar para triangular los datos. La investigación buscó: 1) Interpretar las percepciones y prácticas docentes; 2) Describir el uso del translanguaging para la enseñanza de la cultura local; e 3) identificar los factores incidentes en su implementación. Los hallazgos clave indican que los docentes tienen una percepción ambivalente: lo valoran como un apoyo vital para la comprensión cognitiva y la motivación estudiantil ("translanguaging afectivo", "instruccional y cognitivo"), pero su práctica se ve limitada por las ideologías monolingües institucionales que exigen inmersión total, generando temor a la sanción. Además, el translanguaging fue una perspectiva pedagógica poderosa para la Conexión Cultural, mediando el currículo al integrar referentes locales (lengua muisca, gastronomía andina) y fortaleciendo la identidad y pertenencia de los estudiantes. El estudio concluye que el principal obstáculo para el translanguaging no es de naturaleza pedagógica, sino administrativa e ideológica. La implementación y expansión efectiva del translanguaging requiere un cambio sistémico en la política institucional, pasando de una inmersión restrictiva a un diseño bilingüe formal y estratégico. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This qualitative multiple-case study explores the perceptions and pedagogical practices of primary school teachers regarding translanguaging as a pedagogical perspective to promote local language and culture learning in bilingual and English-emphasis schools in Bogotá and Tunja, Colombia. Using a purposive sample of four primary teachers, the study employed semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations, and a preliminary survey to triangulate data. The research aimed to: 1) Interpret teachers' perceptions and practices; 2) Describe the use of translanguaging for teaching local culture; and 3) Identify implementation factors. Key findings indicate that teachers hold an ambivalent perception: they value translanguaging as a vital support for cognitive understanding and student motivation ("translanguaging afectivo" and "instruccional y cognitivo"), but their practice is constrained by institutional monolingual ideologies that prioritize immersion, leading to fear of sanction. Furthermore, translanguaging was observed as a powerful tool for Cultural Connection, effectively mediating the curriculum by integrating local references (e.g., Muisca language, Andean food/animals) and strengthening students' sense of identity and belonging. The study concludes that the main obstacle to translanguaging is not pedagogical but administrative and ideological. The effective implementation and expansion of translanguaging requires a systemic change in institutional policy, moving from restrictive immersion to a formal, strategic bilingual design. | |
