| dc.description | En Colombia, la educación bilingüe para estudiantes sordos integra la lengua de señas y el español. En consecuencia, el inglés no es obligatorio para estos estudiantes, lo que resulta en una falta de lineamientos pedagógicos, prácticas y capacitación docente. Por lo tanto, este proyecto de investigación tiene como objetivo establecer los desafíos e implicaciones inherentes en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje del inglés con estudiantes sordos mediante el uso de un enfoque exploratorio cualitativo basado en un estudio de caso, el análisis de la literatura existente y las percepciones de los actores educativos de una escuela pública ubicada en Duitama, Boyacá. Para ello, se utilizaron tres instrumentos de recolección de datos: un cuestionario en línea, entrevistas semiestructuradas y una matriz documental. Posteriormente, la información recopilada fue analizada utilizando el método inductivo del análisis temático. Esto resultó en tres categorías principales de análisis: desafíos para la enseñanza del inglés con estudiantes sordos, participación de los actores educativos: propuestas y acciones, y aprendizaje del lenguaje: de la lengua de señas a un idioma extranjero. Con base en esto, se identificaron desafíos educativos, pedagógicos y lingüísticos, junto con consideraciones pedagógicas como la importancia de utilizar su repertorio lingüístico, ya que se determinó que es parte de su identidad. | dc.description.abstract | In Colombia, bilingual education for deaf students integrates Sign Language and Spanish. Consequently, English is not mandatory for these students, resulting in a lack of pedagogical guidelines, practices, and teacher training. Thus, this research project aims to establish the challenges and implications inherent in English teaching and learning processes with deaf students by employing a qualitative exploratory approach based on a case study, analyzing existing literature, and identifying education stakeholders’ perceptions in a public school in Duitama, Boyacá. Three data collection instruments were used: an online questionnaire, semistructured interviews, and a documentary matrix. Subsequently, the collected information was analyzed inductively using the thematic analysis method. This resulted in three main categories of analysis: challenges for English language teaching with deaf students, stakeholders' participation: proposals and actions, and language Learning: From a Sign Language to a foreign language. Based on these, educational, pedagogical, and linguistic challenges were identified, along with pedagogical considerations such as the importance of utilizing their linguistic repertoire, as it was determined to be part of their identity.
