Resumen
La calidad de vida es un estado del ser humano en el cual hay bienestar físico, mental y social. Término que incluye la salud bucal y los determinantes sociales, económicos y políticos. En el caso de la población gestante inmigrante venezolana, se ven altas condiciones de vulnerabilidad, puesto que presentan características que aumentan el riesgo para no presentar óptimas condiciones bucales, lo cual a su vez lleva a afectar su calidad de vida. Objetivo. Evaluar la relación entre salud bucal y calidad de vida, en un grupo de gestantes inmigrantes venezolanas radicadas en Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana. Materiales y métodos. Se evaluaron 43 mujeres gestantes inmigrantes de Venezuela, sin enfermedades sistémicas, a las cuales se les realizó una encuesta para evaluar variables sociodemográficas y calidad de vida (cuestionario Whoqol Bref) y un examen clínico, para evaluar los Índices CPI, C ICDAS1-6 OP, ICDAS 5-6 y COP-D. Estos datos se analizaron en el programa STATA/MP versión 14.0 Resultados. El 62,8% de la muestra evidenció lesiones de caries en estadio severo, el promedio del índice COP-D fue de 4,4 y del Índice C ICDAS 1-6 OP fue de 15,8. Respecto a la calidad de vida el dominio psicológico (dominio 2) mostró un puntaje promedio de 67, siendo este el de mayor puntuación. En el análisis bivariado se encontró significancia estadística entre C ICDAS1-6 OP y el CPI con calidad de vida de manera física y/o psicológica. Conclusiones. Se pudo establecer que una salud bucal deteriorada, considerando la presencia de caries dental y enfermedad periodontal, no impacta negativamente la calidad de vida de las gestantes inmigrantes venezolanas, principalmente en los dominios físico y psicológico, en los que se encontró incluso una correlación positiva.
Abstract
Quality of life is a state of the human being where there is physical, mental and social well-being. Term that includes the oral health and the social, economic and political determinants. In the case of the pregnant Venezuelan immigrant population, high conditions of vulnerability are seen, because they have characteristics that increase the risk of not presenting optimal oral conditions, which in turn leads to affecting their quality of life. Objective. Evaluate the relationship between oral health and quality of life, in a group of pregnant Venezuelan immigrants settled in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. Materials and methods. There were evaluated 43 pregnant immigrant women from Venezuela without systemic diseases, who were surveyed to assess sociodemographic variables and quality of life (Whoqol Bref questionnaire) and had a clinical examination, to evaluate the Index CPI, C ICDAS1-6 OP, ICDAS 5-6 and COP-D. These data were analyzed in the STATA / MP program version 14.0 Results. The 62.8% of the sample (27 women) showed caries lesions in severe stage, the average of the Index COP-D was 4,4 and the C ICDAS 1-6 OP was 15,8. With respect to quality of life, the psychological domain (domain 2) showed a mean score of 67, being the one with the highest score. In the bivariate analysis, it was found statistical significance between C ICDAS1-6 OP and the CPI with quality of life physically and/or psychologically. Conclusions: It was established that a impaired oral health, considering the presence of dental caries and periodontal disease doesn´t impact negatively the quality of life of pregnant Venezuelan immigrants, mainly in the physical and psychological domains, in which it was even found a positive correlation.
