Strategy for the physical-therapeutic care of beneficiaries with hemiparesis in times of COVID-19

| dc.description | This research aimed to design a therapeutic strategy for beneficiaries with hemiparesis belonging to the Abel Santamaría urban center in Santiago de Cuba, in order to reduce the sequelae of the disease and the achievement of an active social life, taking into account the corresponding measures in the current COVID-19 times. Among the antecedents related to the treatment of the sequelae of cerebrovascular accident, we emphasize the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation technique, Bobath’s method, and different proposals that are mostly meant to the individualized care of people with neurological conditions. Scientific research methods such as observation, analytical-synthetic, measurement, systemic-structural-functional, and techniques such as interview and survey were used. A sample of 16 beneficiaries was selected, who underwent evaluation at two moments in time, with an interval of 14 months between each time. Positive qualitative and quantitative changes were obtained at the moments of application, which allowed them greater independence and performance during daily life activities. Among the most significant results after the development and application of the strategy, the optimization of the recovery time and the systematic therapeutic care in the family environment are highlighted. | en |
| dc.description | La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo diseñar una estrategia terapéutica para beneficiarios con hemiparesia pertenecientes al centro urbano Abel Santamaría en Santiago de Cuba, con el fin de disminuir las secuelas de la enfermedad y el logro de una vida social activa, teniendo en cuenta las medidas correspondientes en el actual período de covid-19. Entre los antecedentes relacionados con el tratamiento de las secuelas de accidente cerebrovascular se destacan las técnicas de facilitación neuromuscular propioceptiva, el método de Bobath, y diferentes propuestas que en su mayoría van a la atención individualizada de personas con afecciones neurológicas. Se emplearon métodos de investigación científica, tales como la observación, analítico-sintético, medición, sistémico-estructural-funcional, y técnicas como la entrevista y la encuesta. Se seleccionó una muestra de 16 beneficiarios, que fueron sometidos a evaluación en dos momentos, con un intervalo de 14 meses entre cada momento. Se obtuvieron cambios cualitativos y cuantitativos positivos en los momentos de su aplicación, lo que les permitió una mayor independencia y desempeño durante las actividades de la vida diaria. Entre los resultados más significativos después de la elaboración y aplicación de la estrategia se resaltan la optimización en el tiempo de recuperación, así como la atención terapéutica sistemática en el entorno familiar. | es |
