dc.descriptionIntroducción: La fluorosis dental es un defecto del esmalte, donde se ve afectada la estética y función de los dientes, este defecto presenta zonas hipomineralizadas que se observan como manchas, estrías simétricas, blanquecinas u opacas. Todas estas características se desarrollan debido a la ingesta excesiva de flúor. Objetivos: Identificar el manejo odontológico para pacientes con fluorosis dental, dependiendo del grado de severidad que presenta y la efectividad de cada tratamiento. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión sistemática, para obtener una síntesis de la evidencia bibliográfica disponible en las bases de datos de libre acceso y de la Universidad Santo Tomás, la muestra está conformada por artículos de ensayos clínicos en inglés, que hacen referencia al tratamiento odontológico de pacientes con fluorosis dental encontrados en las bases de datos: Embase, Pubmed, BVS odontología y Oral Dentistry entre los años 2011 al 2021. Resultados: El número de artículos de texto completo evaluados para su elegibilidad fueron 11 de acuerdo con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. En la evaluación del riesgo de sesgo de los ensayos clínicos, se encontró un bajo riesgo de sesgo. Se consideraron los criterios que establece la Colaboración Cochrane para evaluar la calidad de los artículos, arrojando que en la mayoría los tratamientos realizando muestran resultados positivos. Al analizar dichos artículos se evidencia que los tratamientos planteados según cada clínico muestran una gran eficacia debido a que la afección de la superficie dental disminuye notablemente, mejorando así la estética y funcionalidad dental de cada uno de los participantes. Conclusión: Se analizaron diversos ensayos clínicos evidenciando una mejoría estética dependiendo del grado de severidad, en los pacientes con fluorosis leve se evidencian mejores resultados en comparación a los pacientes con fluorosis moderada y severa. Por último, se concluye que la mayoría de los pacientes reportaron un mayor índice de sensibilidad, la cual disminuyo progresivamente.spa
dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Dental fluorosis is a chronic enamel defect where the aesthetics of the teeth is affected. This defect presents hypomineralized areas that are observed as symmetrical, whitish or opaque spots and striae. All of these characteristics develop due to excessive intake of fluoride. Objectives: Identify dental management for patients with dental fluorosis depending on the degree of severity it presents and the effectiveness of each treatment. Methodology: A systematic review was carried out, to obtain a synthesis of the bibliographic evidence available in the databases of free access and of the Santo Tomás University, the sample is made up of articles from clinical trials in English that refer to the dental treatment of patients with dental fluorosis found in the databases: Embase, Pubmed, BVS Odontología and Oral Dentistry between the years 2011 to 2021. Results: The number of full-text articles evaluated for their eligibility was 11 according to the inclusion criteria and exclusion. In assessing the risk of bias of clinical trials, a low risk of bias was found. The criteria established by the Cochrane Collaboration to evaluate the quality of the articles were considered, showing that in most of the articles the treatments performed show positive results. When analyzing these articles, it is evidenced that the treatments proposed according to each clinician show great efficacy due to the fact that the affection of the dental surface decreases significantly, thus improving the aesthetics of each of the participants. Conclusion: Various clinical trials were analyzed showing an aesthetic improvement depending on the degree of severity, in patients with mild fluorosis there is a greater improvement compared to patients with moderate and severe fluorosis. Finally, it is concluded that the patients who received these treatments have a greater sensitivity.spa
