Social Effects of Globalization in the Colombian Swine Sector from the Integral Management Perspective

dc.descriptionThis article aims to present some reflections on the thinking of Amartya Sen (Nobel laureate in economics 1998), set out in his article “Judgments on globalization”, and the relation of these reflections with the pork industry in Colombia. The work is divided into two parts, the first is about whether or not the pork industry has the possibility of entering international markets, and the second about the social effects in the pork industry caused by globalization. Each of the parties’ concluding remarks intend to unsettle the reader about how globalization is assumed in the pork industry's intention to reach a competitive international market. It also presents some environmental, social and economic globalization effects brought to this sector. To accomplish this work it was important to contact the Colombian Association of Pork-FNP (Asoporcicultores - FNP) and the National Council for Economic and Social-CONPES for the pork industry.en
dc.descriptionEste artículo tiene como objetivo presentar algunas reflexiones en torno al pensamiento de Amantya Sen (Premio Nobel de Economía 1998), expuestas en su artículo "Juicios sobre la globalización", y la relación de éstas con el sector porcícola colombiano. El trabajo se ha dividido en dos partes, en la primera, se busca identificar si el sector porcícola tiene o no la posibilidad de incursionar en mercados internacionales, y en la segunda, dar a conocer los efectos sociales para el sector porcícola ocasionados por la globalización. De cada una de las partes se presentan reflexiones finales con la intención de inquietar al lector sobre la manera como se asume la globalización en la intención del sector porcícola de llegar a un mercado internacional competitivo.También se presentan algunos efectos ambientales, sociales y económicos que ha traído la globalización en este mismo sector. Para lograr este trabajo se recurrió a la Asociación Colombiana de Porcicultores - FNP (Asoporcicultores-FNP) y al Consejo Nacional de Política Económica y Social - CONPES-para el sector porcícola.  es
