El valor de la educación familiar. Una aproximación desde la obra La vanagloria, la educación de los hijos y el matrimonio de Juan Crisóstomo

Resumen
El siguiente escrito es el resultado del interés por identificar elementos que aporten a la profundización en torno a los valores esenciales que competen a la familia cristiana. Para ello, el presente escrito busca acercarse a la vida práctica de los cristianos y responder a la pregunta: ¿Qué función cumplía la educación en la familia para los cristianos del siglo iv y qué eco tiene en la vida cristiana hoy? En esta lógica, nos centramos en el cristianismo de Antioquía, de la mano de Juan Crisóstomo, en su obra La vanagloria, la educación de los hijos y el matrimonio escrita entre los años 393 y 394. En esta obra es posible encontrar diversos temas en relación con la educación familiar, la formación del cristiano y su incidencia en la vida cotidiana, mostrando en ella la posibilidad de testimoniar a Cristo y de concebir una vida virtuosa. Finalmente, este trabajo presenta de manera general la visión del matrimonio como oportunidad para vivir en plenitud la fe cristiana y como lugar pedagógico necesario para todo cristiano. Con ello, presentaremos un bosquejo contextual de la obra, seguido de un análisis de la misma, la presentación de elementos constitutivos del matrimonio, la educación familiar y algunas conclusiones ante la realidad actual de la familia cristiana. Del ejercicio de la revisión de este estilo de vida cristiana se identificarán algunas líneas de inspiración para contribuir a la renovación de la vida cristiana hoy, en particular en la órbita familiar como espacio y camino formativo para vivenciar la fe cristiana en sociedades particulares.
The following writing is the result of the interest in identifying elements that contribute to the deepening of the essential values that concern the Christian family. To this end, this writing seeks to approach the practical life of Christians and answer the question: What function did education in the family serve for Christians in the 4th century and what echo does it have for Christian life today? In this logic we focus on the Christianity of Antioch, led by John Chrysostom, in his work: Vainglory, the Education of Children and Marriage, a work written between the years 393-394. In this work it is possible to find various themes in relation to family education, Christian formation and its impact on daily life, showing in it the possibility of witnessing to Christ and conceiving a virtuous life. Finally, this work presents in a general way the vision of marriage as an opportunity to fully live the Christian faith, and a necessary pedagogical place for every Christian. With this we will present a contextual outline of the work, followed by an analysis of the work, presentation of constitutive elements of marriage, family education and some conclusions regarding the current reality of the Christian family. From the exercise of reviewing this style of Christian life, some lines of inspiration will be identified to contribute to the renewal of Christian life today, particularly in the family orbit as a space and formative path to live the Christian faith in particular societies.
