The role of social sciences in the high school: a challenge to form citizenship in Colombia?

Resumen
Este artículo es derivado del proyecto de investigación “Impacto formativo del área de ciencias sociales en el desarrollo de capacidades que fomenten la convivencia ciudadana en contextos educativos rurales”. Por tanto, busca coadyuvar a la reflexión en torno a la enseñanza de dicha realidad en el nivel de básica secundaria y media técnica, ya que la aprobación de la misma según el Ministerio de Educación Nacional [MEN], representa que el estudiante alcanzó unos indicadores de logro y unos estándares de competencias que demuestran su capacidad para la mediación de conflictos, valorar el disenso, fortalecer la identidad nacional, lo cual resulta contradictorio con ciertas particularidades idiosincráticas que han conllevado a la naturalización de la violencia, la corrupción, el engaño, entre otros. Situación que en efecto no se resignifica exclusivamente con una normatividad, paradigma, enfoque, modelo educativo, sino a través del proceso en el que se hallen las causas que impiden transformar conceptual y prácticamente las formas de su enseñanza.
This paper is derived from the research project “Formative impact of the social Sciences area in the development of capacities that foster citizen coexistence in rural educational contexts”. Therefore the present exercise seeks to contribute to reflection on the teaching of this Area in secondary and technical secondary education, since the approval of the same according to the Ministry of National Education of Colombia, represents that the student reached achievement indicators and competency standards that demonstrate their ability to mediate conflicts, assess dissent, strengthen national identity, which is contradictory with certain idiosyncratic particularities that have led to the naturalization of violence, corruption, deception, and others. Situation that in effect is not resignified exclusively with a normativity, paradigm, approach, educational model, but to find the causes that prevent the conceptual and practical transformation of the forms of this teaching.
