The present work recognizes the importance of planning at the Higher Secondary Education (HSE), analyzing it as an area of teacher behavior, through which the demands of what the student must learn are imposed, in such a way that so that the student develops skills that allow him to meet the demands of the educational level in which he finds himself. Data derived from an exploratory investigation are presented in which interviews and observations of five classes of two HSE professors were conducted. The data and the proposals of this work are discussed in terms of the importance of planning in the face of the lack of teacher training in Mexico, recognizing that when the teacher does not have the tools to plan the class, the probabilities of imposing varied criteria decrease, a fact that translates into classes in which learning is left to the fate of the student's qualities and other elements present in the HSE, but as part of the teacher's exercise.
