    The Santo Tomás University, following the humanistic thought of its founder Tomás de Aquino through the department of social projection, has been in charge of carrying out activities that generate the well-being of low-income communities and vulnerable populations, it is for this reason that in alliance with the postgraduate program Specialization in Structures, various projects were proposed to intervene, on this occasion the structural designs were carried out for the construction of the community hall of the Rincon del Llano urbanization, and the construction of commercial premises for the market square of the municipality of Aguazul - Casanare The community of the Rincón del Llano urbanization, in the Juan Hernando Urrego neighborhood of the municipality of Aguazul, is made up of 350 inhabitants (approximately), in addition, it has areas designated for green zones, this urbanization has been affected to hold its meetings. communal, since they do not have a suitable place for such events. Likewise, the municipality of Aguazul has a market square, which is subdivided into areas for different activities, whether for marketing and/or consumption of products that arrive in the municipality, the importance of carrying out the construction of commercial premises in the food sector of the market square is that more than 60 families who have a store in it benefit and the more than 35,000 inhabitants of the municipality that make use of and purchase the different products that are marketed, it is for this reason that it is It requires adequate construction to improve its structural stability since when inspection visits are made, wear of the materials that make up the structure is evident. In the same way, this work presents the structural design of a two-level community room, which it is desired to donate to the community of the Rincón del Llano urbanization of the Juan Hernando Urrego neighborhood of the municipality of Aguazul, this in order to comply with the degree option requirement for the specialization in Structures at the Universidad Santo Tomas, Tunja campus. Within the design, structural plans are presented that contain details of the elements of the structure, a description of the materials that make up the structure, as well as the breakdown of the elements, to understand the operation and compliance required by the respective manuals for structural design. from Colombia

    Wood is a material that has physical and mechanical properties that allow it to resist different types of loads, which is why it has been used over the years as a construction material, albeit in an artisanal manner in Colombia. As a result of the visit to the University of Sao Paulo we were able to demonstrate the relevance of promoting alternatives in construction that seek to contribute significantly to reduce the environmental impact hand in hand with a sustainable economy and that also has a significant growth potential, therefore, we must look at the experience of countries like Brazil, which have significant technical advances and whose success lies in an academic and industrialized development of the sector.

    In the present investigation, it is intended to identify the constructive alternatives implemented in Colombia taking as a reference base, the use of wood in Brazil, described in the framework of the development of the International Academic Mission, carried out at the Escola de Engenharia de São Carlos, University of São Paulo, from September 21 to 26, 2022; and the use of wood as an alternative solution to problems of shortage of works of art in the rural access roads of the Colombian Orinoquia
