dc.descriptionEl presente artículo aborda la necesidad que tiene el desarrollo sostenible y la educación ambiental de un contexto democrático para su consolidación, y describe cómo la relación que se da entre la democracia y la educación ambiental es recíproca, en la medida que trascienden expresiones políticas que requieren del pensamiento crítico y reflexivo para su fortalecimiento. Esta construcción teórica se hace desde la propuesta del filósofo norteamericano John Dewey (1916) para quien la democracia política se apoya en la participación ciudadana, entendida como una forma de vida dentro de la cual el pensamiento reflexivo es un elemento central que nos permite cooperar con el fin de solucionar los problemas sociales.es-ES
dc.descriptionThis article addresses the necessity of considering sustainable development and environmental education in the consolidation of democracy, and describes how the relationship that exists between democracy and environmental education is reciprocal as it transcends political expressions that require reflexive and critical thought for its strengthening. This theoretical construction draws on the proposal of the American philosopher John Dewey (1916) who considers political democracy as the basis of democracy, understood as a way of life in which reflective thinking is a central element that allows us to cooperate with the aim of solving social problems.en-US
