Abstract
Contemporary architecture currently faces an environmental crisis derived from urban and construction models developed under anthropocentric principles that have caused ecosystem fragmentation, biodiversity loss, and a progressive disconnection between human beings and the natural environment.
The modern city, mainly conceived as functional infrastructure, has relegated living systems to secondary elements within urban space, generating increasingly impermeable, artificial, and environmentally
vulnerable territories.
Consequently, this research project proposes a critical reflection on the role of architecture as a mediator between infrastructure and the living environment, addressing the concept of Interspecies Architecture as a contemporary approach aimed at integrating ecological systems, biological dynamics, and ecosystem relationships into architectural inhabitation.
The research is developed through the analysis of architectural, urban, and theoretical references that explore strategies of environmental integration, biophilia, ecological infrastructure, and living systems applied to contemporary architecture. Through an analytical and project-based methodology, spatial tools capable of promoting coexistence relationships between human and non-human species are identified, understanding architecture not merely as a constructed object but as an organism capable of interacting with, adapting to, and regenerating its environment.
