La Eclesiología del Vaticano II

Abstract

Convened by John XXIII, the Second Vatican Council marks in history an epoch of renewal, an aggiornamento that awakens the desire for the Church to be open to the world and faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Emphasizing the dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium and the pastoral constitution Gaudium et Spes, the present work makes a journey through the ecclesiological conceptions that emerge from them: The Church as mystery/sacrament, the Church as People of God, the Church as communion, the Church as Body of Christ, its universal and missionary character which seeks to respond to the challenges of the world and of modern man, scrutinizing the signs of the times and always carrying a renewed message of hope which, through service, seeks to rescue the dignity of the human being, turning it into a transforming agent of reality, considering values such as justice, truth, equality and the promotion of the common good. In this journey, we will allow ourselves to be enlightened by the contributions of theologians present during the development of the Second Vatican Council, such as: Yves Congar and Henri De Lubac, and others who have dedicated their efforts to study these ecclesiological understandings, such as Salvador Pié-Ninot and Victor Codina.
