This research explores the strengthening of honesty as a core value among ninth-grade students at the Francisco José de Caldas Educational Institution in Zipaquirá, employing Religious Education (RE) as a pedagogical framework. The study examines how contemporary pragmatism and digital environment pressures have replaced integrity with a utilitarian calculation of academic success. Grounded in Max Scheler's hierarchy of values and Enrique Dussel's ethics of liberation, the monograph proposes a "didactics of integrity" aimed at transforming external normative compliance into a profound ethical conviction. The ultimate goal is to cultivate citizens capable of acting with transparency, viewing honesty as an act of social justice and resistance against the dehumanization of the educational system.

(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-05) Rojas Larrota, Liliam Viviana; Botero Martínez, José Leonar; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001563995; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=XweF-jwAAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6725-8052
Improving the sense of life through gerontological experiences by understanding the importance of the relationship between physical, mental and social care in the aging process. Gerontological encounters should provide a therapeutic response of meaning and purpose in their lives and also generate expectations to improve their ability to perceive reality and live a dignified old age, taking into account the contexts of poverty and loneliness in which the older adults at the Vivir support center live. Through gerontological experiences, it will be possible to identify the different family and community models that accompany and welcome older adults, in order to collaborate in these spaces to improve their quality of life and manage a habitable benefit with social responsibility, thus avoiding the inequality caused by social strata. This will also foster participation in areas such as community centers and cultural groups that work for the benefit of the older adult population, contributing to a society for all. Older adults are subjects of rights and special constitutional protection, socially active, with guarantees and responsibilities towards themselves, their families, and their society. People age in multiple ways depending on the experiences, crucial events, and transitions they face throughout their lives. Generally, an older person is someone between 65 and 100 years old or more. At the Vivir Support Center, there are 50 older adults. Through gerontological experiences focused on meaning in life, older adults have the ability to look inward and reflect on the importance of living in the present, learning from the past, and understanding that the present is extraordinary and each day is an opportunity to smile and be happy. Religious experience is also therapeutic, as older adults enjoy visiting church and attending Sunday Mass. It's an opportunity to connect with their faith and also a time to share with friends and family. How can we build society through gerontological processes focused on meaning in life for the benefit of the older adults at the Vivir Support Center?

La paz como fundamento del desarrollo humano en la formación básica secundaria. Peace as the foundation of human development in secondary education.
(Universidad Santo Tomás) Muñoz Rodríguez, Edwin Fabián; Sanguino Cárdenas, Ruth Yelitza; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://orcid.org/0009-0003-0285-1204; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-2713-0090
Peace is understood as a transcendental value that goes beyond the mere absence of violence, serving as the foundation for justice, equity, and harmonious coexistence. Thinkers such as Kant, Galtung, Gandhi, Mandela, and Muñoz conceive peace as a political, ethical, and social construction that encompasses both structural transformation and everyday practice. In education, peace is integrated transversally into the curriculum, and the school, as a key space for promoting a culture of peace based on human rights, democracy, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, plays a central role. In Colombia, as a result of efforts to build peace as a nation, the Chair of Peace has been established, fostering dialogue, empathy, and critical thinking. Education for peace is oriented toward comprehensive human development cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual and aims to form citizens capable of building just and inclusive societies. The research, using a qualitative and phenomenological approach, analyzes the experiences of students, teachers, and families regarding peace, in order to understand its meanings and generate transformative educational proposals. In this endeavor, the following elements were identified as essential to incorporate into the educational dynamic: the integration of peace as a cross-cutting axis of the curriculum, the development of socio-emotional skills, the implementation of strategies for the peaceful resolution of conflicts through an education that provides meaning to life, and, without a doubt, the continuous training of teachers and families in pedagogies for peace.

This article analyzes the role of reconciliation processes in contexts marked by armed conflict, with special attention to the case of Barrancabermeja. This city has been profoundly affected by sociopolitical violence, which requires reconciliation processes that contribute to the restoration of the social fabric. From this perspective, I revisit Carolina Montero's theoretical proposal of the ethical triad—vulnerability, recognition, and reparation—as a key tool for addressing the wounds of conflict. It is proposed that the community, beyond being a space for coexistence, can become a stage for healing and social reconstruction, in which victims are recognized and supported through sensitive and ethically committed methodologies. This qualitative, exploratory study seeks to contribute to the academic and social discussion on the role of reconciliation processes in peacebuilding in post-conflict settings.

This thesis aims to analyze Christian education in the home as a fundamental setting for the spiritual formation of children. From a qualitative, descriptive, and interpretive approach, it studies how parents teach and model Christian values such as love, respect, and solidarity, the difficulties they face in this process, and the progress they perceive in their children's spiritual development and Christian identity. The information was collected primarily through interviews with Christian parents, supplemented by surveys. From the analysis of the responses, three central themes were identified: the pedagogical strategies used at home for teaching the faith, the challenges posed by the current sociocultural context, and the transformations observed in the spiritual lives of their children. The results show that the personal example of parents, family Bible studies, sharing of faith experiences, and practical service activities constitute privileged means for transmitting Christian values in everyday home life. Likewise, difficulties associated with lack of time, the influence of the media, and the disinterest or resistance of some children and adolescents to religious content are evident, requiring parents to be creative, patient, and better integrate faith into daily life. Despite these challenges, participants recognize significant progress in their children's understanding of the faith, internalization of values, and the development of a stronger Christian identity. The study reaffirms the family as the "domestic church" and the primary space for discipleship, and offers theological and pedagogical elements that can guide formative processes and future research on Christian education in the home. Keywords: Christian education, family, values, spiritual development, Christian identity.

The paper offers a theological reflection on the processes of expropriation, captivity, and alienation of the Bible in the Latin American context, based on a concrete experience of popular reading in the Anglican Mission María Madre de Dios in Neiva, Colombia. It argues that Sacred Scripture has historically been appropriated by ecclesial and political elites to legitimize structures of domination, stripping it of its prophetic and liberating power. Through a contextual and liberating hermeneutic approach, the theological praxis that links faith, social justice, and ethical commitment from the margins is reclaimed. The popular reading of the Bible, understood as a communal, situated, and transformative exercise, seeks to return the sacred text to its rightful recipients: the poor and the oppressed. The experience of Anglican Bible circles demonstrates how this practice empowers vulnerable communities—especially women victims of violence—to reframe their stories in light of the Gospel. The article concludes that this embodied reading not only decolonizes theology but also builds Church from a spirituality of resistance, hope, and justice.

This paper proposes a hermeneutical reading of John 5:1–18 based on Carolina Montero's ethical triad—vulnerability, recognition, and reparation—to shed light on specific situations of suffering and exclusion in the peasant and indigenous communities of Río Negro, Huila. After presenting the sociocultural context of the narrative, the passage is delineated and structured, highlighting Jesus' healing initiative and the tension with Sabbath legalism. From the category of vulnerability, it shows how Jesus' effective word reconstitutes the dignity of the subject; recognition opens the possibility of community reintegration; and reparation calls for an ecclesial praxis that transforms scenarios of death into new ways of life. Finally, pastoral guidelines are offered for processes of healing and rebuilding the social fabric from the perspective of Christian hope.

Cybertheology is an interdisciplinary field that studies the relationship between theology, religion, and spirituality in the digital world. It promotes the construction of ethical values and reflection in the virtual context. Through the use of the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, a study was conducted at the Metropolitan College of the South, located in Floridablanca, Santander, to analyze the influence of social networks and digital culture on young people. It was found that social networks, such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Snapchat, are significant tools for sharing messages of reconciliation and Christian values, which has a positive impact on the virtual interaction between young people. Additionally, an increase was observed in the understanding of cyberspace not only as a tool for entertainment but as a tool to promote ethical values and spirituality. Furthermore, it was highlighted that the activities implemented in the framework of the project promoted attitudes of respect and empathy, strengthening community cohesion both in the virtual and in-person context within the educational institution. In summary, cybertheology is a valuable tool for promoting peace, ethical values, and strengthening interpersonal relationships, especially in educational contexts.

(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-01-04) Blanchar Suarez, Adfred Yey; Rodriguez Polango, Lidia Mercedes; Castillo Sanabria, Manuel Ademir; Botero, Josè Leonar; Universidad Santo Tomás
This research examines the role of the Church as an agent of peace and education at the San José de Maicao Educational Institution, La Guajira. With an interpretive approach, it emphasizes the importance of the Church's intervention in promoting values and creating spaces for dialogue among students, teachers, and the community. Quality education is essential for forming responsible citizens committed to peace and harmonious coexistence. The Church not only supports academic development but also the ethical and moral formation of students, fostering values such as tolerance, forgiveness, and social justice. Furthermore, it highlights the need to promote an inclusive school environment that values diversity and prevents exclusion, in line with the principles of educators such as Freire and UNESCO. Collaboration between the Church, the educational institution, and the community is key to addressing social challenges and contributing to a more peaceful society. Dialogical education emerges as a fundamental strategy for developing communication skills and resolving conflicts peacefully, fostering a hopeful future. The qualitative and interpretive approach in education allows for understanding how the actors envolved, such as students and religious leaders, construct shared meanings of peace based on their experiences and contexts. The research underscores that peace education is a collective effort that requires the active participation of all, not only in formal educational settings but also in community life. The educational work of the Church is fundamental in social transformation, encouraging individuals to become agents of change within their communities. ´

This paper presents the results of research emerging from the dialogue between the Franciscan tradition and contemporary evangelizing demands, using as a hermeneutical corpus the writings of Saint Mary Bernarda Bütler, founder of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians. Using a critical methodology that integrates hermeneutical analysis with practical theology, the research addresses the apparent 3 dialectical tension between contemplative silence and missionary praxis. The central question asks how the virtue of silence, far from constituting a denial of evangelizing action, is configured as a fundamental epistemological principle for discernment and authenticity in Christian discipleship. The study articulates three methodological dimensions: first, contemporary theological exploration of silence and mission; second, hermeneutical theological analysis of the letters of Saint Maria Bernarda from her biographical and ecclesial context; third, the proposal of formative guidelines that integrate contemplation and action. The theological relevance of this research lies in its ability to challenge contemporary pastoral activism from a contemplative perspective that does not renounce evangelical commitment. Intimes of hyperconnectivity and systemic crises, silence emerges as an epistemological tool for transcending missionary challenges, offering hermeneutical keys for living discipleship with evangelical coherence. This proposal invites interdisciplinary dialogue on the theology of contemplative action, challenging current pastoral paradigms and opening horizons for evangelization that integrates spiritual authenticity and transformative commitment.

Transhumanismo a partir de la reflexión de persona digna en Santo Tomás de Aquino

Transhumanism has been considered by some authors as a philosophical and intellectual movement aimed at the biological, cognitive and emotional improvement of human beings through technology. The above could lead one to think that at the center of his reflections is the person and their dignity; However, when analyzing its assumptions, a philosophical position is perceived that is different from that of the anthropocentric humanism in which the first stages of its history had sunk its roots. This paradigm shift is due to a negative perception of human nature that will result in the configuration of a posthuman being based on the technological improvement of the current human being. The purpose of this research will be to look at transhumanism from a particular perspective that turns out to be interpolating and contributing to the reflections on the subject. To do this, the approaches and teachings of Saint Thomas Aquinas will be addressed regarding the substantial unity of the human person and his dignity, by which he is called to transcendence, finding his goal in God.

This research article analyzes how Colegio Domingo Savio addresses eco-theological themes through its school curriculum and Institutional Educational Project (PEI), citing several authors and presenting programs and projects related to the environment. However, in practice, there is a lack of connection between religion, the celebration of worship, and eco-theological praxis at the institution. This translates into a lack of understanding of the meaning of eco-theology and the practices associated with environmental care. As a result, it hinders awareness and the development of healthy habits that promote the protection of nature, as well as the reduction of the existing gap between science and eco-theology, which should be reflected in everyday life.

This article reflects on the importance of theological anthropology in mediating the balance between the relationship of God, humanity, and nature. This is particularly relevant given that the contemporary world faces an environmental crisis caused by human beings and their excessive drive for production and environmental exploitation. Such actions have broken the harmonious relationship between humanity and nature, while neglecting the divine mandate to “till and keep” creation. First, the article analyzes aspects of the theology of creation that promote care for the environment. Second, it proposes a dialogue between theological anthropology and the sciences—particularly concerning the Big Bang and evolution—which offers key insights for the care of creation by reconsidering the human place in the universe, challenging anthropocentrism, and fostering a more harmonious relationship with the environment. Finally, it delves into the horizons of an integral ecology. As a result, it is argued that from the perspective of theological anthropology, it is possible to achieve a balance between humanity and the environment. In doing so, anthropocentrism is questioned, and instead, an integral ecology is proposed in which human beings bring about changes that promote a renewed relationship with the rest of creation.

Religious syncretism involves the blending of rituals and worldviews that aim to preserve a primitive consciousness through symbolic anchors, generally Catholic. This phenomenon is evident in the municipality of San Agustín – Huila and poses an obstacle to the understanding and assimilation of an authentically Christian lifestyle. It was evident that popular religiosity alternates and merges Catholic piety acts with superstitious practices of shamanic origin. This reality, in the mission of evangelization, is a cultural phenomenon deeply rooted in ancestral traditions, requiring a serene dialogue between faith and culture. Consequently, there is a need to instill in the consciousness of Catholic faithful criteria for discernment that shape the thinking of a baptized person to overcome natural religiosity by distinguishing it from true acts of faith. This paves the way for inner purification based on the objectivity of Truth and Love
