El transhumanismo ha sido considerado por algunos autores como un movimiento filosófico e intelectual encaminado hacia la mejora biológica, cognitiva y emocional de los seres humanos a través de la tecnología. Lo anterior podría hacer pensar que en el centro de sus reflexiones se encuentra la persona y su dignidad; no obstante, al analizar sus presupuestos se percibe una postura filosófica distinta a la del humanismo antropocéntrico en el que habían hundido sus raíces las primeras etapas de su historia. Este cambio de paradigma se debe a una percepción negativa de la naturaleza humana que llevará como consecuencia la configuración de un ser posthumano a partir de la mejora tecnológica del ser humano actual. El propósito de esta investigación consistirá en dar una mirada al transhumanismo desde una particular óptica que resulte ser interpoladora y aportante a las reflexiones de la materia. Para ello, se abordarán los planteamientos y las enseñanzas de santo Tomás de Aquino en torno a la unidad substancial de la persona humana y su dignidad, por la que es llamada a la trascendencia encontrando su fin último en Dios.
Abstract
Transhumanism has been considered by some authors as a philosophical and intellectual movement aimed at the biological, cognitive and emotional improvement of human beings through technology. The above could lead one to think that at the center of his reflections is the person and their dignity; However, when analyzing its assumptions, a philosophical position is perceived that is different from that of the anthropocentric humanism in which the first stages of its history had sunk its roots. This paradigm shift is due to a negative perception of human nature that will result in the configuration of a posthuman being based on the technological improvement of the current human being. The purpose of this research will be to look at transhumanism from a particular perspective that turns out to be interpolating and contributing to the reflections on the subject. To do this, the approaches and teachings of Saint Thomas Aquinas will be addressed regarding the substantial unity of the human person and his dignity, by which he is called to transcendence, finding his goal in God.
