El presente estudio analiza el panorama de la tenencia de mascotas en Bogotá, destacando que, a pesar de que la ciudad lidera las estadísticas nacionales con un 25% de hogares con perros o gatos, existe una brecha crítica en la educación sobre el bienestar animal. Se identifican deficiencias significativas en la prevención de enfermedades mediante vacunación, en el cuidado de la salud oral y en la detección temprana de síntomas de dolor por parte de los propietarios. Ante esta problemática, se plantea el desarrollo de una plataforma multimedia interactiva como herramienta pedagógica para mitigar la desinformación, promoviendo una tenencia responsable que garantice la calidad de vida de los animales y fortalezca el vínculo humano-mascota en el contexto urbano actual.
Abstract
This study analyzes the landscape of pet ownership in Bogotá, highlighting that, although the city leads national statistics with 25% of households owning dogs or cats, there is a critical gap in animal welfare education. Significant deficiencies are identified in disease prevention through vaccination, oral health care, and the early detection of pain symptoms by pet owners. Given this problem, the development of an interactive multimedia platform is proposed as a pedagogical tool to mitigate misinformation, promoting responsible ownership that guarantees the animals' quality of life and strengthens the human-pet bond within the current urban context.
