This study analyzes the susceptibility of water resources in the Serranía de las Quinchas Natural Park—located in Colombia's Eastern Cordillera—based on land cover and land-use changes between 2000 and 2020. Its objective is to evaluate how these transformations alter the watershed's hydrological behavior, modifying processes such as infiltration, retention, and surface runoff generation. Land cover was analyzed across three main sub-watersheds (each exceeding 10 km² in area) within the mountain range. A multi-temporal analysis was conducted using GIS and the SCS-CN method, estimating variables for infiltration, retention, runoff, and discharge rates for return periods of 10, 15, 20, 50, and 100 years. The results showed that sub-watersheds 1 and 2 maintained stable behavior, exhibiting low Curve Number (CN) values due to the predominance of forest land use. In contrast, sub-watershed 3 underwent the most significant changes, reaching its peak CN value in 2005 as a result of land cover transformations and increased conversion of land to pasture. Discharge estimates were incomplete in some scenarios because effective precipitation did not exceed initial abstraction (Pe < Ia). This behavior highlights the dependence of hydrological dynamics on land cover.
