Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Análisis de la evolución de la maquinaria a través de los tiempos(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-09) Gómez Bermúdez, Ana Grabriela; Moreno Bautista, Daniela; Vargas Parra, Julián Ándres; Universidad Santo TomasOver time, the machinery used in construction has undergone significant transformation. In its beginnings, the works were executed mainly by human and animal force, using basic tools such as levers, ropes, pulleys and wooden rollers. Despite their technical limitations, these instruments managed to build important old structures, although the process was slow and physically demanding. The main and one of the most important changes came with the industrial revolution, a period in which steam-powered machines emerged, capable of transforming thermal energy into mechanical energy. This allowed for the advancement of pumps, industrial equipment, locomotives and vessels, boosting industrialization and improving production capacity and transport. As a result, the contractile processes became more efficient and dynamic. In the 20th century, the incorporation of internal combustion engines gave rise to heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, tractors, concrete mixers and loaders, among many others. Over the years, these equipment have been perfected becoming more powerful, safe and specialized, allowing specific activities such as earthmoving, compaction, demolition and paving to be carried out with greater precision. In conclusion, the evolution of machinery has made it possible to optimize construction processes, increasing productivity and performance, reducing physical effort and facilitating the execution of large-scale works worldwideTipo de ítem: Ítem , Gestión documental de los trámites de permisos y licencias ambientales en la Subdirección de Oferta de la Corporación Autónoma Regional de Santander.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-09) Robles Cardenas, Johan Stiben; Vargas Parra, Julián Andrés; Universidad Santo TomásThis document aims to demonstrate the development of the business internship carried out at the Autonomous Corporation of Santander from June 26 to December 26, 2025. The proposed approach integrates laboratory measurements, uncertainty analysis, and hydraulic modeling using EPANET software. Initially, volumetric flow measurements are carried out through volume–time gauging using graduated cylinders and a stopwatch, allowing the determination of flow rates and the evaluation of measurement reliability through statistical analysis. Subsequently, pressure data obtained from manometers are used to construct the pump characteristic curve (H–Q), which represents the real hydraulic behavior of the pumping system. Based on these results, minor head losses generated by fittings and accessories are calculated using the equivalent length method together with friction factor estimation. Finally, the experimental data are incorporated into a hydraulic model in EPANET to simulate pressures and flows within the network and compare them with measured values. The methodology ensures consistency between experimental measurements and numerical simulation for hydraulic system analysis.
