dc.descriptionEl principio del determinismo tecno-ecológico y tecno-económico constituye el núcleo explicativo del materialismo cultural de Marvin Harris. El presente artículo describe y analiza este concepto, se reflexiona sobre su significado y sobre las objeciones que es posible hacerle. Las principales objeciones son dos: la posible negación de la libertad que implicaría, y la dificultad que conlleva la impredecibilidad de la acción humana.THE DETERMINISM PRINCIPLE IN CULTURAL MATERIALISMAbstract The principle of techno- cological and techno-economic determinism constitutes the explanatory core of Marvin Harris’s cultural materialism. This article describes and analyzes this concept, reflects on its significance and possible objections to it. There are two main objections: the potential denial of freedom that it would entail, and the difficulties inherent to the unpredictability of human action.es-ES
