Abstract

Axie Infinity is a crypto-game, that is, a game that is built on Blockchain, characterized by its striking characters called Axies which are NFTs that face battles with the purpose of winning the game currency: SLP. Axie Infinity is the largest and most famous representative of the Game-Fi phenomenon, which between 2020 and 2021 led a revolution in several areas, including the labor and tax fields. Firstly, with respect to the labor field, doubts are generated as to the nature of the work performed by the players who participated through the scholarship system. Secondly, with respect to the tax area, there are questions as to how the elements surrounding the game, such as Cryptocurrencies, should be approached from this perspective, since there is the difficulty of the existence of a clear legislation that addresses whether and how to tax the profits generated by the game in the form of Cryptoassets. There is no doubt that the lives of many people were changed in the process, a prime example is the Canabatuan population where the community in times of pandemic stayed afloat playing Axie Infinity, for this reason, as this game has consequences either positive or negative in nature, it is relevant to analyze it in this paper. However, it is difficult to approach the subject from a legal perspective since the basic elements of the parts that make up crypto-games are only in the initial stages of regulation.
