Acercarse a algo nuevo siempre implica que en un primer momento haya curiosidad e interés por saber ese algo como se configura, sobre que posa su mirada y como crea conocimiento. Por tanto, lo primero que hacemos frente a lo desconocido, o lo nuevo, es identificar sus límites y tratar de definirlo, de hacerlo familiar para poder encajarlo en las categorías que conocemos y crear relaciones que nos permitan entenderlo. Así, la tecnología cuando la abordamos desde la filosofía y en este caso desde una perspectiva decolonial se convierte en algo nuevo que necesita otras definiciones para poder abordarse plenamente. Entonces, antes de entrar en discusiones sobre el tema es pertinente definir unos primeros conceptos que, si no se diferencian plenamente podríamos caer en el error de confundirlos por su aparente similitud. Establecidas las diferencias será más fácil aproximarnos al campo de manera más concreta y acertada. Para este ejercicio se toman definiciones ofrecidas por autores contemporáneos que se encuentran trabajando en el área de filosofía de la tecnología y el colonialismo digital.
En el texto “sobre el colonialismo digital” Tello (2023) empieza a introducir términos bastante similares pues tienen una misma génesis, pero devienen en significados diferentes, así, aunque colonialismo, colonialidad, neocolonialidad, neocolonialismo, descolonización y decolonialidad estén relacionadas cada una responde a una manifestación diferente.
Abstract
Approaching something new always implies that at first there is curiosity and interest in knowing how it is configured, what it looks at and how it creates knowledge. Therefore, the first thing we do when faced with the unknown, or the new, is to identify its limits and try to define it, to make it familiar in order to fit it into the categories we know and create relationships that allow us to understand it. Thus, technology when we approach it from philosophy and in this case from a decolonial perspective becomes something new that needs other definitions to be fully addressed. So, before entering into discussions on the subject it is pertinent to define some first concepts that, if they are not fully differentiated, we could fall into the error of confusing them because of their apparent similarity. Once the differences have been established, it will be easier to approach the field in a more concrete and accurate manner. For this exercise we take definitions offered by contemporary authors who are working in the area of philosophy of technology and digital colonialism. In the text “on digital colonialism” Tello (2023) begins to introduce quite similar terms as they have the same genesis, but become different meanings, so, although colonialism, coloniality, neocoloniality, neocolonialism, decolonization and decoloniality are related, each one responds to a different manifestation.
