Humildemente Iván me ha solicitado que escriba un prólogo a su laboriosa y meritoria obra. Prologar este libro es un honor tan agradecido como inmerecido por mi parte, pues la obra merece más una apología al final que un prólogo al principio. La obra se presenta a sí misma nada más mostrar la intención y el proyecto. No necesita presentación. No necesita
palabra previa, ni aclaraciones previas, ni explicaciones preliminares. Es clara y transparente en sí misma.
Si alguna aclaración previa he de hacer es la siguiente: No me considero merecedor de una obra como la que el lector tiene en sus manos. Ni mi itinerario vital e intelectual merece un título como el que encabeza esta obra: “Luminoso itinerario teológico de Fr. Felicísimo
Martínez, O.P.”. Ya quisiera yo servir de luz y verdad a esta humanidad tan necesitada de ambas, aunque fuera solo una pequeña luciérnaga. El título de la obra dice más de la generosidad del comentador que de la talla del comentado.
Este prólogo me ofrece la oportunidad de agradecer cordialmente a Iván este honor que me ha concedido de ser objeto de lectura, investigación, valoración por parte de un hermano dominico. Muchas gracias, Iván. Soy consciente del inmenso trabajo que has realizado,
de los miles de horas que has dedicado a la lectura de mis escritos, de la generosidad que has puesto en la exposición y valoración de mi pensamiento.
Abstract
Iván has humbly asked me to write a prologue to his laborious and commendable work. Prologuing this book is an honor as grateful as it is undeserved on my part, for the work deserves an apology at the end more than a prologue at the beginning. The work presents itself as soon as it reveals its intention and project. It needs no introduction. It needs no previous word, no prior clarifications, no preliminary explanations. It is clear and transparent in itself.
If I have to make any preliminary clarification, it is the following: I do not consider myself worthy of a work like the one the reader holds in their hands. Nor does my life and intellectual journey deserve a title like the one at the beginning of this work: "Luminous Theological Journey of Fr. Felicísimo Martínez, O.P." I would love to serve as light and truth to this humanity so in need of both, even if I were only a tiny firefly. The title of the work says more about the generosity of the commentator than the stature of the person being commented on. This prologue gives me the opportunity to cordially thank Iván for the honor he has granted me of being the subject of reading, research, and evaluation by a Dominican brother. Thank you very much, Iván. I am aware of the immense work you have done, the thousands of hours you have dedicated to reading my writings, and the generosity you have shown in presenting and evaluating my thinking.
