This study conducts a systematic literature review to assess whether these strategies actually contribute to environmental sustainability and ecosystem protection related to Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean water and sanitation) more specifically target 6.6 (By 2020, protect and restore water related ecosystems, including forests, mountains, wetlands, rivers, aquifers and lakes). By collecting and analysing previous studies, this approach allows to identify whether current strategies are adequate or whether there are gaps in the evidence that require further research. In summary, the review seeks to validate conservation actions and suggest improvements to ensure the effective protection of aquatic ecosystems.spa
