Resumen
La visibilidad que otorga una competencia deportiva y sus protagonistas, los atletas, está muy por encima de cualquier otro asunto de interés a nivel mundial. Los atletas atraen grandes audiencias que desde distintos sectores son vistos como oportunidades para mostrar desde el orgullo nacional hasta la venta de cientos de productos y servicios que nada tienen que ver con los deportes. En este artículo se hace un análisis de la visibilidad de la figura de una atleta frente a los imaginarios sociales, tomando como referente contemporáneo la figura del atleta en Colombia. Nelson Crispín Corzo, nadador quien cuenta con múltiples títulos internacionales incluido ganador de medallas paralímpicas, lo que le ha generado una visibilidad y reconocimiento en medios. Anteriormente los grandes evento sólo podía ser apreciados por quienes estuvieran físicamente presentes en el lugar que se desarrollaron los hechos, percibiendo lo sucedido directamente por sus sentidos. Pero el salto tecnológico permitió que millones pudieran ser testigos de un evento gracias a que las nuevas tecnologías como la radio y la televisión que permiten oír y ver acontecimientos que pueden estarse desarrollando miles de kilómetros de distancia. Lo anterior llama la atención precisamente sobre la significancia social que goza el deporte pues parece que no existe otro tema de interés humano que supere la atención hacia todo aquello que tiene que ver con el deporte, sus distintas manifestaciones, pero especialmente sobre sus protagonistas, los atletas. En tal sentido, este trabajo pretende enfocar dichos escenarios anteriormente mencionados, sobre la figura de un atleta paralímpico y con ello subyace la particularidad de una figura pública, destacada y que goza de una trayectoria que le hace única no sólo en el ámbito nacional (En Colombia), sino también del mundo. Nelson Crispín Corzo, atleta colombiano, participante en varios eventos deportivos en los niveles nacional, regional y mundial quien hasta el momento es uno de los atletas colombiano con más medallas paralímpicas. Esta particularidad hace que sea interesante explorar la figura de un atleta del más alto nivel en el deporte y su asociación con su significancia social en el ámbito colombiano.
Abstract
The visibility of a sporting competition and its protagonists, the athletes, is far above any other issue of global interest. Athletes attract large audiences that from different sectors are seen as opportunities to show national pride or to sell hundreds of products and services that have nothing to do with sports. This article analyses the visibility of the figure of an athlete in social imaginaries, taking as a contemporary reference the figure of the athlete in Colombia. Nelson Crispín Corzo, a swimmer who has won multiple international titles, including Paralympic medals, which has given him visibility and recognition in the media. Previously, major events could only be appreciated by those who were physically present in the place where the events took place, perceiving what happened directly through their senses. But the technological leap meant that millions could witness an event thanks to new technologies such as radio and television that allow them to hear and see events that may be unfolding thousands of kilometres away. The above draws attention precisely to the social significance that sport enjoys, as it seems that there is no other subject of human interest that surpasses the attention paid to everything that has to do with sport, its different manifestations, but especially to its protagonists, the athletes. In this sense, this work intends to focus on the aforementioned scenarios, on the figure of a Paralympic athlete and with this underlies the particularity of a public figure, outstanding and that enjoys a trajectory that makes him unique not only in the national sphere (in Colombia), but also in the world. Nelson Crispín Corzo, Colombian athlete, participant in various sporting events at national, regional and world levels, is one of the Colombian athletes with the most Paralympic medals to date. This particularity makes it interesting to explore the figure of an athlete of the highest level in sport and its association with his social significance in the Colombian context.
