Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Efectos del entrenamiento pliométrico sobre el salto vertical en jugadores de voleibol de playa: revisión sistemática(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-09) Gómez Angulo, Oscar David; Vargas Alfonso, Giancarlo; Castellanos Ruiz, Yasmin; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002018670Plyometric training has become established as a relevant strategy for improving vertical jump in volleyball; however, in beach volleyball, its analysis requires considering theparticularities of sand as an unstable surface. This study aimed to analyze the available scientific evidence on the effects of plyometric training on the vertical jump of beach volleyball players. A systematic review was conducted following the guidelines of the 2020 PRISMA statement. The search was performed in ScienceDirect, Scopus, Redalyc, SciELO, and PubMed, using three search terms related to plyometric training, volleyball, beach volleyball, vertical jump, and lower limb power. An initial 137 records were identified; after removing duplicates, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, and reviewing the full texts, 22 studies were included. The results were organized into six thematic categories: vertical jump improvement, sand surface, overload, aquatic training, applied technology, and complementary variables. Evidence shows that plyometrics improves vertical jump, power, and certain technical and tactical skills, although its effects depend on duration, frequency, progression, exercise specificity, athletic level, and training surface. In beach volleyball, the sand modifies jump mechanics and requires specific neuromuscular adaptations, so programs should not be directly transferred from hard surfaces. It is concluded that plyometrics is a useful strategy, provided it is planned with specificity, load control, and individualization in mind. Keywords: plyometrics; volleyball; jump; sand; power.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Métodos de Entrenamiento de Potencia y Velocidad en Futbolistas Jóvenes Revisión Narrativa de la Literatura con Búsqueda Sistematizada (2015-2026)(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-08) Pinilla Guzman, Sergio Alejandro; Moreno Medina, Gerardo Alberto; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001507194; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6714-1241This narrative literature review with a systematized search aimed to analyze the scientific evidence published between 2015 and 2026 on training methods used to improve power and speed in youth soccer players. A systematic search was conducted in international scientific databases using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and experimental studies evaluating strength training, plyometric training, combined training, and resisted sprint training were included. The findings indicate that combined strength and plyometric programs produce the most consistent improvements in acceleration, muscular power, and jumping performance, whereas maximal sprint speed shows smaller adaptations. In addition, programs lasting 6 to 12 weeks with a frequency of two to three sessions per week and progressive overload yielded the best outcomes in youth soccer players. It is concluded that combined training is the most effective strategy for simultaneously improving power and speed during youth player development when biological maturation and individual characteristics are considered.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Impacto del Factor Motivacional en Deportistas: Análisis de Reflexión(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-07) Gómez Bolívar, Santiago; Chinome Rodriguez, Jonathan; Castellanos Ruiz, Yasmin; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002018670This reflective article comparatively analyzes motivational dynamics in the sports fields of Brazil and Colombia, based on an international academic mission and an examination of scientific articles published between 2019 and 2025 in both countries. The objective was to understand how training and institutional structures influence athlete motivation and the sustainability of their athletic development. Methodologically, an interpretive qualitative approach was adopted, based on the thematic analysis proposed by Braun and Clarke (2021), which facilitated the organization of the information found. Indexed scientific articles from Brazil and Colombia were examined and compared, along with records of academic observations made in Brazilian sports institutions. The information was classified into categories such as motivational climate, autonomy, continuity of training, and institutional support, based on self-determination theory (Ryan & Deci, 2020). The analysis identified that sports environments that meet the fundamental psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness foster more independent and sustained motivation (Ryan & Deci, 2020). In this regard, the Brazilian model demonstrates a consolidated institutional structure and continuous planning that strengthens these processes. In contrast, significant progress has been observed in Colombia, although challenges related to organizational stability and the long-term development of athletes persist. It is concluded that sports motivation does not depend exclusively on the individual, but rather on coherent training systems that integrate structure, support, and a sense of belonging.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , CR10 Trainingshop(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-26) Cardozo Ayala, Diego Alejandro; Casallas Caiman, Sergio; Buitrago Pulido, Paula Daniela; Gonzalo, florian; Garzon Vanegas, Alba Lucy; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001428481; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002313409; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002313390; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Poc8kpwAAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0009-0005-0737-1925; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8480-3326The purpose of this undergraduate thesis project is the design and development of a personalized training company aimed at promoting comprehensive well-being and improving individuals' quality of life through individualized and semi-personalized physical exercise programs. Methods: A qualitative ethnographic and interpretative approach, supported by participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and field diaries applied to children and youth groups from a popular football school. Results: The findings revealed progressive transformations in the participation and spatial appropriation of girls and young women on the field, who moved from peripheral roles to positions of leadership and sporting prominence. Likewise, coaches played a key role in promoting inclusive practices and mediating gender-related conflicts. These results showed that, although traditional imaginaries linked to masculinity in football still persist, community-based dynamics encourage processes of recognition, coexistence, and democratization of sporting spaces.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Fortalecimiento de la atención y la escucha a través de actividades lúdico-recreativas en niños y adultos mayores del comedor comunitario San Benito Menni(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) Arévalo Useche, Franky Steven; Ruiz González, Lady Johanna; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000120052; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=so8I3k4AAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3189-4089; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-5315-0822This project emerged from what I observed and experienced during my first visits to the San Benito Menni community dining hall, located in Altos de Cazucá, Soacha. From the very first session, it was clear that both the children and the older adults struggled to concentrate, listen to one another, and participate in an organized way during group activities. Based on that reality, I designed and implemented a 14-week, 27-session intervention plan with 12 children between the ages of 6 and 12 and 34 older adults, using recreational and play-based activities as the main strategy to strengthen attention and active listening in both groups. The plan was organized into four axes: group integration and recognition, attention stimulation, cooperative work, and process consolidation. Throughout the sessions, cooperative games, motor circuits, rhythmic and musical activities, and progressive listening dynamics were implemented, closing with the final evaluation "I listen, I remember, I act." Results showed concrete improvements in concentration, turn-taking, and participation in both populations, confirming that play and recreation are effective strategies for developing cognitive and social skills in vulnerable community contexts.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Relación entre el estrés académico y la actividad física en estudiantes universitarios: estudio transversal correlacional(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) Arbeláez Baquero, Juan Diego; Gómez Tauta, Juan Pablo; Ortiz Beltrán, Nicolas Mateo; Romero García, Astolfo; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001403792; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002317231; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=LROUKfYAAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1872-1343This study aimed to examine the association between academic stress levels and physical activity in a sample of 207 university students, using the SISCO Academic Stress Inventory and the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A) as data collection instruments. Since no variable met the normality assumption, non-parametric statistical procedures were applied. At the descriptive level, participants reported moderate academic stress, with median values of 3.50 for stressors, 3.29 for symptoms, and 3.43 for coping strategies. Physical activity scores placed the sample in the moderate-to-high category. The correlational analysis revealed a strong positive association between stressors and symptoms (rs = .802; p < .001). Physical activity showed a moderate and statistically significant correlation with coping strategies (rs = .483; p < .001). No significant relationship was found between physical activity and stressors (rs = .114; p = .101), while the link with symptoms was weak (rs = .179; p = .010).Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Correlación entre la fuerza-resistencia abdominal y salto vertical en voleibolistas mujeres de 15–17 años de cinco clubes afiliados a la liga santandereana de voleibol(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-06) Ardila Rincón, Diego Andrés; Ramírez Trillos, Dayan Andrés; Uribe Durán, Jesús Daniel; García Gonzáles, Daniel Efrén; Universidad Santo TomásThe present study aimed to identify the correlation between abdominal muscular endurance and vertical jump height in female volleyball players aged 15 to 17 years belonging to five clubs affiliated with the Santander Volleyball League (LSV). A descriptive cross-sectional study with a correlational approach was conducted on a sample of 151 athletes. Abdominal muscular endurance was assessed using the Sit-Up and Plank tests, while vertical jump height was measured through the Abalakov Jump (ABK) test using the MyJump application. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used for statistical analysis because the variables did not present a normal distribution. The results showed a weak but statistically significant positive correlation between the Sit-Up test and Abalakov jump height (ρ = 0.158; p = 0.024), whereas the Plank test did not show a significant correlation with vertical jump performance. It is concluded that dynamic abdominal muscular endurance has a weak positive association with vertical jump performance in adolescent female volleyball players, while isometric abdominal endurance was not significantly associated with this physical capacity.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Relación entre la velocidad lineal y desempeño en el Illinois Agility Test según la posición de juego en futbolistas juveniles(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-06) Rodríguez Bueno, Santiago Jose; Peña, Erwin Farid; Universidad Santo TomásThe aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between linear speed and performance in the Illinois Agility Test according to playing position in youth soccer players, as well as to determine the contribution of age to both physical performance variables. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study with descriptive, comparative, and correlational scope was conducted in a sample of 50 youth soccer players aged 14 to 16 years. Two attempts of the 20-m sprint and the Illinois Agility Test were recorded, and the best result in each test was used for analysis. Statistical procedures included descriptive analysis, intrasession reliability assessment through ICC, CV, and SEM, one-way ANOVA with Tukey post hoc tests, Pearson and Spearman correlations, and age-adjusted linear regression models. The results showed significant differences among playing positions for both the 20-m sprint (F(2,47) = 15.30, p < 0.001, η² = 0.394) and the Illinois Agility Test (F(2,47) = 15.93, p < 0.001, η² = 0.404), with forwards showing the best performance, followed by midfielders and defenders. Intrasession reliability was very high for both tests (ICC = 0.9995 for sprint; ICC = 0.9999 for Illinois). In addition, an almost perfect positive relationship was found between both variables in the overall sample (r = 0.997, p < 0.001), and this pattern remained consistent across the three playing positions. However, after adjusting for age, playing position was no longer an independent predictor, whereas age remained significantly associated with performance in both tests. It can be concluded that linear speed and performance in the Illinois Agility Test are strongly associated in youth soccer players and that, although apparent differences by playing position exist, an important proportion of such differences seems to be explained by age. These findings highlight the need to interpret physical performance in youth categories by considering not only tactical role but also the athlete’s developmental stage.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Movimiento y bienestar: efecto de la actividad físico-recreativa en personas mayores en Suba La Gaitana - Bogotá(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-22) Forero Castellanos, Carlos Daniel; Ruiz González, Lady Johanna; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000120052; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=so8I3k4AAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3189-4089This project presents a proposal for the development of physical activity and recreation for older adults in the Suba La Gaitana sector of Bogotá, promoting active aging. Based on population study and observation during practical experience, problems such as sedentary lifestyles, muscle weakness, endurance deficits, joint stiffness, coordination impairments, and functional limitations associated with conditions like scoliosis and a lack of general strength were found, along with signs of sadness and social isolation. Based on this, a physical-recreational activity plan was designed, focusing on factors such as strength, endurance, mobility, and coordination, and adapted to the abilities of each older adult. Each session was implemented in the Suba-La Gaitana area, integrating gentle functional exercises and recreational activities, encouraging participation, social interaction, and a sense of well-being. The results confirm the intervention, providing not only physical but also emotional benefits to promote active aging and improve the quality of life for older adults.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Escuela Elite Dual Sport(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-01) Montoya Delgado, Daniel Esteban; Franco Diaz, Juan David; Olave Pinzon, Andres Camilo; Florián Velásquez, Gonzalo; Universidad Santo TomásThis undergraduate project proposes the creation of Elite Dual Sport, a sports club focused on the comprehensive development of children, teenagers, and young adults in the municipality of Cajicá and nearby areas. The initiative combines football as the main sport and taekwondo as a complementary discipline, aiming to strengthen participants’ physical, technical, social, and emotional abilities. The project was developed in response to issues such as sedentary lifestyles, the inadequate use of free time, and the limited availability of sports programs that combine values-based education with athletic development. The market research was conducted through a descriptive approach and a survey applied to 25 people from the target market. The results showed a high level of acceptance of extracurricular sports activities, as 100% of respondents considered them important for children and teenagers. In addition, 72% stated that they had enrolled or would be willing to enroll their children in a sports school or club. The identified preferences support the proposal, since football received 48% of the responses and 36% of participants expressed interest in practicing both disciplines. Elite Dual Sport offers a differentiated value proposition based on the integration of football and taekwondo, an age-adapted pedagogical methodology, professionally trained coaches, family support, and safe and inclusive environments. The business model includes income from registration fees, monthly payments, and the sale of uniforms, with plans for football, taekwondo, and a combined dual-sport plan. Therefore, the project aims to become an innovative and sustainable sports alternative that positively contributes to human and community development. Keywords: comprehensive sports training, football, taekwondo, sports entrepreneurship, values, children and teenagers, business model.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Offside como restricción en small-sided games de fútbol. Una revisión de alcance(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-07-06) Pinzón Gómez, Juan Andrés; Peña Ardila, Erwin Farid; Universidad Santo TomasSmall‑sided games (SSGs) are key tools in constraints‑led soccer training; however, the offside rule is often omitted without a clear rationale. The objective was to map and synthesize evidence on the offside rule as a task constraint in soccer SSGs and its effects on tactical‑positional behavior and physical/physiological demands. A scoping review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA‑ScR. Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science and PubMed, were searched on May 2026. Two reviewers independently screened titles/abstracts and full texts; disagreements were resolved by consensus. Empirical studies implementing the offside rule in soccer SSGs were included. Of 38 records identified and 35 after duplication, 4 studies met the inclusion criteria. Evidence indicates that including the offside rule constrains collective dynamics by reducing team length and spatial exploration relative to no‑offside conditions. In larger pitch conditions, removing the offside rule increases total distance and moderate‑speed running, whereas internal load (heart rate) remains stable in very small formats (e.g., 3v3). Available evidence suggests that incorporating the offside rule may enhance task representativeness without substantially increasing physiological cost in small formats. Key evidence gaps remain for female soccer and senior professional populations, highlighting the need for standardized operational definitions and longitudinal research.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Conocimientos y aplicaciones de la movilidad articular en deportistas universitarios.(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-23) Espinosa Ortiz, Juan Sebastian; Cantor Cuintaco, Juan Pablo; Padilla Sandoval, Luis Miguel; Romero Garcia, Jesús Astolfo; Universidad Santo TomásJoint mobility is an essential component of physical performance and injury prevention, as it allows for an adequate range of motion and efficiency in sports activities. However, in the university setting, there is a lack of awareness regarding its importance, which results in training routines that rarely include specific mobility exercises. Furthermore, research has shown that limited hip range of motion increases the likelihood of injuries among soccer players, particularly in the lower extremities (Moreno Moraleda, 2023). Furthermore, it has been documented that mobility and flexibility programs improve joint range of motion and performance in strength disciplines such as powerlifting, highlighting the need to integrate these exercises into athletes’ training (Bolívar Valencia, 2024). Similarly, in adapted sports such as para-powerlifting, significant differences in mobility and strength have been found, requiring differentiated training strategies (Hincapié-Gallón, Zuluaga & García-Chaves, 2025). It has also been noted that joint hypermobility can increase the risk of shoulder injuries in athletes by up to three times, underscoring the importance of controlled and mindful mobility training (Liaghat et al., 2021). In summary, joint mobility remains an under-explored and underappreciated component in sports practice, which justifies the need to investigate what knowledge college athletes have on this topic and how they apply it in their routines, in order to guide training programs that promote injury prevention and athletic performance.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Asociación entre la fuerza prensil y la funcionalidad de miembros inferiores en adultos mayores. Prueba piloto(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-05-20) Baez Lopez, Ronald Yessid; Valbuena Santisteban, Laura Sofía; Pérez Garavito, Juan Camilo; Peña Ardila, Erwin Farid; Universidad Santo TomásHandgrip strength is widely used as a clinical marker of global muscle health and frailty in older adults, yet its relationship with lower-extremity function may differ in physically active populations. This study aimed to examine the association between absolute and relative handgrip strength and lower-extremity functional performance assessed by the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) in physically active older adults. Cross-sectional correlational study including 70 community-dwelling older adults from two community programs (USTA and INDER Piedecuesta). Handgrip strength was assessed using a hydraulic JAMAR® dynamometer and lower-extremity function using the SPPB (balance, gait, and five-times sit-to-stand). Physical activity was estimated using the short IPAQ (METs). Multivariable regression models were fitted for total SPPB (primary outcome) and gait score and sit-to-stand (secondary outcomes), adjusting for age, sex, BMI, and total METs; robust HC3 standard errors were applied. Relative handgrip strength was not significantly associated with total SPPB or secondary outcomes after adjustment. Age showed an inverse association with total SPPB and gait score. Conclusion: In physically active older adults, absolute and relative handgrip strength were not associated with SPPB-based lower-extremity function, whereas age was the main determinant of functional performance.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Efectos de ejercicios de alta intensidad con realidad aumentada sobre la velocidad de procesamiento Cognitivo en Estudiantes Universitarios(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-19) Morales Morales, Carlos Eduardo; Cardenas Siachoque, Miguel Ángel; Martínez Coronel, Daniel Esteban; Romero Mendoza, Dario; Universidad Santo Tomas; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000286923; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002308790; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002310449; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002310436; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8973-1541This quasi-experimental study explored the effects of a two-week high-intensity exercise intervention using augmented reality (Active Arcade) on cognitive processing speed in first-semester students of the Physical Culture, Sports, and Recreation Program at Santo Tomás University, Bogotá. Twenty-seven participants (19 men, 8 women; mean age 19.4 ± 2.1 years) were selected by convenience sampling. The intervention included 6 sessions (3/week, ~2 hours each) with sequential rotation of 7 Active Arcade games, verified as high-intensity via %HRmax > 75% (Polar Flow). Cognitive processing speed was assessed using an adapted version of the Trail Making Test (TMT), recording execution time (s) and number of errors before and after the intervention. Analyses were conducted in Jamovi 2.6: Shapiro-Wilk for normality and Wilcoxon for pre-post comparison. No statistically significant differences were found in execution time (W = 204, p = .732, r = .079) or errors (W = 204, p = .476, r = .162). Post hoc power analysis indicated an achieved power of .117, consistent with the pilot nature of the study. A two-week intervention with this protocol was insufficient to modify cognitive processing speed in this population.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Actitud lúdica y ejercicio físico enfocados en el adulto mayor: fundación fundarced del barrio Alfonso Lopez de la localidad de Usme(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-18) Aragón González, Johan Mateo; Ruiz González, Lady Johanna; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000120052; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0002477817; https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=so8I3k4AAAAJ&hl=es&oi=ao; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3189-4089This undergraduate thesis developed a community-based intervention through a social internship modality with older adults linked to the Fundarced Foundation, located in the Usme district of Bogotá. The process emerged from a participatory diagnosis conducted through social mapping, which made it possible to identify needs related to musculoskeletal pain, limited variety of physical activities, infrastructure difficulties, and the need to strengthen spaces for social integration and well-being. Based on the findings obtained, an action plan was implemented consisting of adapted physical activity sessions, resistance exercises using elastic bands, recreational activities, motor coordination exercises, and music-based strategies aimed at strengthening the participants’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. The sessions were designed according to the functional conditions of the population, prioritizing active participation, the adaptation of physical loads, and the creation of safe and motivating spaces. Throughout the intervention process, positive changes were observed in group participation, willingness to engage in physical activity, social cohesion, and the emotional well-being of the older adults. Finally, the experience made it possible to recognize the importance of physical activity and recreation as community intervention tools that promote active aging, autonomy, and the construction of support networks among older adult populations.Tipo de ítem: Ítem , Motivos de participación deportiva en los juegos nacionales universitarios 2025. Colombia(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2026-06-09) Olarte Tapias, Luis Javier Jr; Valbuena García, Anderson Javier; Saiz Gelvez, Melkin Andrés; Guerrero Méndez, Ángel Clemente; López Cuadros, José Miguel; Murillo López, Alba Liliana; Rangel Caballero, Luis Gabriel; Universidad Santo TomásThe ASCUN University Games are held annually in Colombia, in accordance with Law 30 of 1992, as a platform that strengthens the holistic development of higher education students. The objective of this study was to analyze the motivational factors of higher education athletes in the 2025 National University Games in Colombia through a quantitative cross-sectional study in which the Participation Motivation Questionnaire (PMQ) was administered to a sample of 408 university students. The results revealed significant differences between men and women: women emphasized skill improvement, socialization, recognition, and a preference for individual sports, while men placed greater value on physical fitness, action, challenges, travel, and the perception of competition. In conclusion, it was found that intrinsic motivation is a fundamental driver of female participation, whereas men exhibit a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. This provides evidence for understanding how motivational profiles are shaped in the Colombian context and offers valuable insights for designing institutional programs and educational policies that strengthen holistic development through university sports.
