This paper explores the digital media used by national sports federations in Colombia to publish information. The study examines the challenges federations face, such as financial constraints, visibility issues, and the impact of digital platforms on the success of the sports they manage. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of digital presence with qualitative interviews with federation leaders. The results show that federations primarily use social media and websites for communication, but their digital presence is limited, with few actively engaging with digital tools for promotion. Furthermore, federations with more popular sports, such as soccer and cycling, have better financial support and visibility, while emerging sports face significant barriers. The study highlights the need for improved strategies to increase digital visibility and financial sustainability, suggesting that federations should foster partnerships with technology companies and invest in digital skills development. This research contributes to understanding how digital media can enhance the management and promotion of sports in Colombia.

Introduction: The present study analyzes the correlation between body composition and glycemia before and after aerobic exercise in young people in a fasting state. Variables such as trunk fat, phase angle, percentage of total water, and glycemia were evaluated. Methods: A correlational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 15 apparently healthy university men, who maintained a 12-hour fast before performing a Cooper aerobic test. Physiological variables and body composition were measured by electrical bioimpedance. Results: Glucose showed individual variations post-exercise, with a negative weak correlation between the difference in glucose and the percentage of total water. In addition, a weak correlation was found between trunk fat and phase angle with glycemic variation, suggesting that these variables may influence the glycemic response. Conclusion: The glycemic response to exercise in a fasting state is influenced by multiple factors and is not uniform between individuals. Training customization and proper assessment of body composition are essential to optimize health and performance in people who perform physical activity on an empty stomach.

WHO advocates for inclusion and equal opportunities for people with physical disabilities, recognizing that their active participation is essential to building more just and equitable societies. People with physical disabilities can benefit from a variety of adapted exercises to improve their health and well-being. The key is to find exercises and activities that are safe and appropriate for each person's specific disability. Given the promotion of healthy and accessible lifestyles for everyone, there have been public projects of outdoor bio-healthy parks, which have been emblematic spaces in the city of Bogota. These have allowed all inhabitants to have access to the practice of exercise, but there are several problems surrounding these spaces, starting with the notorious exclusion of people with reduced mobility due to the lack of special spaces for them. In this context, the present study is focused on the use and participation of the bio-healthy parks in the locality of Puente Aranda by people with reduced mobility in the city of Bogota.

(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Moreno Castañeda, Zaid; Corredor, Juan Carlos; Universidad Santo Tomás
This business proposal stems from the need to expand the horizons of the Minotauros rugby club, located in the capital city, and is based on the knowledge acquired during the Physical Culture, Sports and Recreation degree at the Universidad Santo Tomás, as well as on personal experience as a rugby player with more than a year of practice and in collaboration with Oscar Forero, director of the club and current president of the Bogotá Rugby League. The training obtained in academic areas such as Initiation and Sports Training, Methodology of Recreation Teaching, Training and Sports Performance, Exercise Programming for Health and Sports Psychology, has been key in the development of this idea. Rugby, a sport that combines skills such as agility, strategy and strength, offers a unique platform for children to acquire both physical and social skills. Unlike other sports, rugby teaches young people to face challenges with resilience, encourages teamwork and helps to overcome obstacles constructively. These lessons go beyond the playing field, having a positive impact on the character and daily lives of participants.

According to Law 2210 of 2022, the required skills and knowledge for recognizing a sports coach in Colombia are outlined. Additionally, for individuals who do not possess a higher education degree, the law establishes the requirements to obtain a certification of suitability. This certification grants a provisional registration, allowing them to practice in the national territory while completing training related to sports coaching. This project aims to identify the non-disciplinary training possessed by coaches who have not studied in a program related to sports coaching, as well as the work modality in which they are currently employed. The goal is to assess the extent to which the level and type of training influence employability or professional development in Colombia. A comparison is made between individuals who are employed and those who are self-employed, as well as between their career trajectory and their level of professional education. Various professions and degrees are observed among those fulfilling the role of coach. Thanks to the certification exam, they can work as coaches in Colombia. The results highlight that, regardless of whether a coach is employed or self-employed, the choice of work modality does not strongly depend on their non-disciplinary professional degree. Whether the coach holds a professional, technical, technological degree or lacks any degree, the work modality they choose or in which they are employed is similar, with a P-value = 0.235.

Relación entre el índice cintura estatura y la fuerza prensil en adolescentes de un colegio de la ciudad de Bogotá
(Universidad Santo Tomás, 2024) Gonzalez Arias, Alexa Fernanda; Arguello Gutierrez, Yenny Paola; Universidad Santo Tomás; https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000001918; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8335-4936
This study investigated the relationship between the waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) and grip strength in 12 adolescents from Bogotá as indicators of cardiovascular risk. The WHtR, calculated by dividing the waist circumference by height, is an effective predictor of metabolic risk, with values above 0.5 indicating central adiposity and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. On the other hand, grip strength, measured using a hand dynamometer, is an accessible indicator reflecting muscle health and is associated with lower premature mortality and cardiovascular risk. The results showed that the adolescents had an average WHtR of 0.42 and grip strength values below international standards, placing them in lower percentiles for their age. This may reflect a lower cardiovascular risk in this population compared to previous studies in other contexts. Although no significant correlation was found between WHtR and grip strength, the relationship was positive, suggesting that a better WHtR could be linked to greater muscular capacity. The study highlights the importance of WHtR and grip strength as simple and cost-effective tools for cardiovascular risk assessment and prevention, particularly in young populations. However, it underscores the need for further research with larger sample sizes to strengthen the evidence and adapt these indicators to the Colombian context.

This project aims to create a company dedicated to physical activity and recreation for older adults, with the purpose of improving their physical, mental, and social well-being. The initiative arises in response to the growing population of older individuals who need adequate spaces and programs to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. The problem statement highlights the lack of specialized and accessible programs that promote active aging, leading to mobility issues, chronic diseases, and social isolation in this population. Through a methodology based on market studies, literature review, and practical experiences, strategies are designed that include adapted physical exercises, recreational activities, cognitive stimulation workshops, and social events. The expected results include an improvement in the quality of life of older adults, fostering their autonomy, social integration, and overall well-being. Additionally, the project seeks to raise community awareness about the importance of exercise in healthy aging. In conclusion, this company will not only benefit older adults but also contribute to social development by promoting a shift in the perception of aging and encouraging healthy habits in the population.

Adherence to the Mediterranean diet was evaluated in a sample of 198 residents of San Andrés Island using the PREDIMED questionnaire. The study included sociodemographic and physical condition variables, such as horizontal jump performance and maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), to determine how these influence adherences to the Mediterranean diet. The results of the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) indicated that both horizontal jump performance and VO2max had a significant association with adherence to the diet, explaining 6.4% and 3.8% of the variability, respectively. The interaction between sex and horizontal jump performance was also significant, suggesting that the relationship between jump performance and adherence to the Mediterranean diet differs between men and women. Despite the trend towards significance for sex as an independent variable, no conclusive differences were found between men and women regarding adherence to the Mediterranean diet. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test validated the model assumptions. Overall, the results emphasize the importance of physical condition and sociodemographic factors in promoting healthy dietary habits. This study provides a foundation for designing interventions tailored to the cultural and demographic particularities of the San Andrés population, promoting adherence to healthy dietary patterns.

This study seeks to identify the ethnic diversity of sports coaches in their different work entities, looking for how ethnic groups are distributed in the sports field and whether all individuals are exercising their professional career in a sports institution. The entities are classified as Caja, Club, Ente Municipal, Independiente, Liga, None and Private, and the ethnic groups considered are Afro-Colombian, Raizal, Other and None. The results indicate that the majority of coaches do not identify with an ethnic group (90.8%), while a minority belongs to Afro-Colombian groups (5.6%) and other groups (3.0%). In the cross table, a higher proportion of Afro-Colombian coaches is observed in entities classified as "Club" (52.6%), while the distribution of coaches who do not belong to any ethnic group is high in "Club" (29.3%), Ente Municipal (30.0%) and Private (14.7%). The Chi-square analysis shows that there is no statistically significant relationship between the entity in which coaches work and their ethnicity (p=0.606). This implies that the entity classification is not influenced by the ethnic group to which coaches belong in this sample. In other words, ethnic diversity in the different entities is relatively homogeneous, with no clear patterns of concentration or absence of a particular ethnic group. These findings point to an inclusive structure in the distribution of coaches among the different sports entities, regardless of their ethnic identity.
