Asociación entre el tiempo de pantalla, los niveles de actividad física y las barreras percibidas en aprendices del SENA.

| dc.description | El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre el tiempo de pantalla, los niveles de actividad física y las barreras percibidas para la práctica de actividad física en aprendices del Centro Industrial y del Desarrollo Tecnológico del Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA). Se desarrolló una investigación con enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, corte transversal y alcance correlacional. La muestra estuvo conformada por 320 aprendices mayores de 18 años, seleccionados mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. La información se recolectó mediante el International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), el Sedentary Behaviour Questionnaire (SBQ) y la dimensión de barreras de la Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale (EBBS). Los datos fueron analizados mediante estadística descriptiva, pruebas de asociación y correlación, considerando un nivel de significancia de p < 0,05. Los resultados mostraron que el 75,9 % de los participantes presentó niveles altos de actividad física y el 39,4 % reportó más de seis horas diarias de tiempo de pantalla. Los hombres registraron mayores niveles de actividad física vigorosa, moderada y total que las mujeres. Las principales barreras percibidas fueron el cansancio, el cansancio posterior a las actividades diarias y la distancia a los lugares de práctica. No se encontró una asociación significativa entre el tiempo de pantalla y el nivel de actividad física, ni entre las barreras percibidas y la actividad física total. Se concluye que, aunque los aprendices presentan una elevada exposición al tiempo de pantalla, mantienen altos niveles de actividad física, lo que sugiere que ambos comportamientos pueden coexistir de manera independiente. Los hallazgos aportan evidencia para fortalecer estrategias institucionales de promoción de estilos de vida saludables y programas de bienestar en instituciones de formación técnica y tecnológica. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The present study aimed to analyze the relationship between screen time, physical activity levels, and perceived barriers to physical activity among apprentices at the Industrial and Technological Development Center of the National Learning Service (SENA). A quantitative research study with a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational design was conducted. The sample consisted of 320 apprentices over 18 years of age, selected through non-probability convenience sampling. Data were collected using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire–Short Form (IPAQ-SF), the Sedentary Behaviour Questionnaire (SBQ), and the barriers dimension of the Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale (EBBS). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, association tests, and correlation analyses, considering a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that 75.9% of the participants presented high levels of physical activity, and 39.4% reported more than six hours of daily screen time. Men showed higher levels of vigorous, moderate, and total physical activity than women. The main perceived barriers were fatigue, tiredness after daily activities, and the distance to places where physical activity could be practiced. No significant association was found between screen time and physical activity level, nor between perceived barriers and total physical activity. It is concluded that, although the apprentices present high exposure to screen time, they maintain high levels of physical activity, suggesting that both behaviors may coexist independently. The findings provide evidence to strengthen institutional strategies for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and wellness programs in technical and technological education institutions. | |
