| dc.description | El sector cafetero colombiano enfrenta el reto de diversificar sus mercados internacionales en un contexto de alta competencia y cambios en el comercio global. Colombia, reconocida por producir café arábico de alta calidad, depende de mercados tradicionales como Estados Unidos y Europa, lo que genera dependencia ante la incertidumbre de precios y demanda. La incorporación de Colombia a la BRI abre oportunidades comerciales en mercados emergentes de Asia y África, para el café de especialidad. La investigación se desarrolla bajo un enfoque cualitativo descriptivo-analítico, mediante un estudio de caso sustentado en revisión documental, análisis de contenido y comparación con países competidores como Brasil, Vietnam y Etiopía. Los resultados evidencian que la BRI ha generado un entorno favorable para la expansión del comercio agrícola, facilitando la conectividad y reduciendo costos logísticos y acceso a mercados emergentes en Asia. Los hallazgos muestran que la BRI puede reducir costos y ampliar rutas de distribución a mercados con demanda, pero el aprovechamiento depende de factores internos como certificaciones de calidad, infraestructura y política comercial. Se concluye que el café colombiano, proveniente de zonas cafeteras cualificadas, tiene ventajas competitivas para posicionarse en mercados BRI, siempre que se fortalezcan las capacidades institucionales y se diseñen estrategias de internacionalización. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The Colombian coffee sector faces the challenge of diversifying its international markets amid intense competition and shifts in global trade. Colombia, renowned for producing high-quality Arabica coffee, relies on traditional markets such as the United States and Europe, creating vulnerability to price and demand uncertainty. Colombia’s participation in the BRI opens up commercial opportunities for specialty coffee in emerging markets in Asia and Africa. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, using a case study based on a literature review, content analysis, and comparison with competitor countries such as Brazil, Vietnam, and Ethiopia. The results show that the BRI has created a favorable environment for the expansion of agricultural trade, facilitating connectivity and reducing logistics costs and improving access to emerging markets in Asia. The findings indicate that the BRI can reduce costs and expand distribution routes to markets with demand, but taking advantage of these opportunities depends on internal factors such as quality certifications, infrastructure, and trade policy. It is concluded that Colombian coffee, originating from certified coffee-growing regions, has competitive advantages for positioning itself in BRI markets, provided that institutional capacities are strengthened and internationalization strategies are designed. | |
