En San Luis, San Andrés Islas, donde el viento y el mar han marcado la vida de sus habitantes, surge la necesidad urgente de repensar la vivienda como un espacio seguro, digno y resistente. Este proyecto propone un prototipo de vivienda refugio diseñado para enfrentar huracanes y fortalecer la resiliencia habitacional en uno de los territorios más vulnerables del archipiélago. A partir de un análisis social, físico, ambiental y constructivo del barrio San Luis, se plantea una alternativa arquitectónica que protege sin perder la identidad isleña, incorporando materiales adecuados, estrategias pasivas y criterios de seguridad para eventos extremos. Más que una solución técnica, este trabajo busca aportar a la reconstrucción de la confianza y la esperanza de una comunidad que ha resistido las tempestades. Una vivienda que no solo se mantenga en pie, sino que también acompañe, resguarde y dignifique a quienes la habitan.
Abstract
In San Luis, San Andrés Island, where the wind and sea have shaped the lives of its inhabitants, the urgent need arises to rethink housing as a safe, dignified, and resilient space. This project proposes a prototype shelter designed to withstand hurricanes and strengthen housing resilience in one of the archipelago's most vulnerable areas. Based on a social, physical, environmental, and construction analysis of the San Luis neighborhood, an architectural alternative is proposed that protects without losing the island's identity, incorporating appropriate materials, passive strategies, and safety criteria for extreme events. More than a technical solution, this work seeks to contribute to rebuilding the confidence and hope of a community that has withstood storms. A home that not only stands but also supports, protects, and dignifies its inhabitants.
