Abstract

This book addresses the issue of abandoned or underused spaces more specifically, bullrings in Colombia—which, following Law 1238 of 2024, were permanently banned from hosting bullfights in the country. As a result, these large-scale facilities with valuable morphological characteristics have become socio-spatial challenges in the territories that once contained such public arenas. For this reason, the central theme of this project focuses on promoting the reuse of these spaces in the municipality of Fredonia, Antioquia, through a conversion of uses based on the concept of the *readymade* in architecture. The architectural project aims to improve and contribute cultural and artistic facilities, undertaking a necessary action that highlights the contrast between the shortage of spaces for such activities and the difficulties of urban expansion around the municipality—an opportunity reinforced by the presence of a single abandoned facility within the urban core. Thus, the architectural piece is inserted by reusing the site to radically redefine its function without drastically altering its morphology or its amphitheater vocation, seeking to create a fully functional building with almost poetic atmospheres, while simultaneously offering its roof or upper surface as part of the everyday public space.
